I keep trying to introduce water in a lid so it's low and the little stinkers just walk through it.

William is the runt, but he tries the hardest and goes the farthest when I put them on the carpet.  He peed on the kennel floor.  I should have put him in the litter box.   I bought aluminum cake pans to put litter in so they can start playing around in it.  Hoping Mama J starts showing them.

After William peed on the kennel floor this morning, I decided to remove the kitten box from the kennel.  I still have the blankets in there.  I put a little low litter box in there along with Jasmine's.  I also put a lower bowl of water in there.  They are walking all over looking around the kennel.  They can't get out of it yet.

Tomorrow, I'm going to mix up some concoction of kitten food for them to try.  I think they should start eating.

I'm also going to call the apl.  They haven't called me about getting Jasmine her shots.

I might be talking to myself here, or people are reading and not commenting, which is what I'm hoping.

Does it sound about right in the timeframe with what I'm doing?

They are a little young, very cute. Try feeding canned food, possibly Fancy Feast Kitten in Turkey flavor, I've not had a kitten turn it down. Any food you get for them must be pate/smooth style no chunks/slices/bits as its a choking hazard. I've never had any luck with kitten mush just canned food worked for me.

Thanks I have 3 cans of kitten pate.

Also, the  kitten box is back.  I went in the room and she had them all in the litter box nursing. So, SHE needs the box.  I did cut one end off so they can get out, though.

So they are almost 4 weeks old? They will learn to eat well over the next couple of weeks. You are just right in your time frame, but it is a process. Don't be surprised if they knock that water bowl over! Mine love to play in the bowl and knock it over. They will also begin using the litter box now too - some fast, some slow. That's a process too! Sounds like they are ready to come out soon for some supervised play outside the crate. Sounds like you are doing a great job with them! :)

I have been taking them out of the kennel and letting them roam around the room, but I am afraid that they will pee on the carpet.  So last night I bought a tarp and am going to lay it down with a blanket over it. At least, some of the carpet will be protected.

I will have to take another video.  When I come in the room now, they start mewing and rushing to the edge of the box.  They like me.  They really like me!

She probably will, but maybe not be the same exemplary mom for the time being.   After all, its common they go into heat perhaps already when the kittens are 1 week.

Make sure she cant sneak out, if you dont want a new litter in 65 days.

Oh she can't get out of the house, but she ran out of the room right into Spot who was like,  "Whoa!!  I can't help you little girl!"

Luckily, the kittens are beginning to drink water and use the litter box.  I left some kitten wet food out for them, but they aren't interested.

Close her up with her kittens in a room a few times a day so she will nurse. They are what, about 4 weeks old? Expect this heat cycle to make her miserable and to last a good week. You can go ahead and set up a spay appointment for her if you'd like. The kittens should become interested in mush in the next couple of weeks. Try wetting kitten chow with kitten formula (not cow's milk) and see if that interests them. Whatever you do, don't let her out!

Since I'm fostering with the APL, she won't get spayed until I surrender her and the kittens, which won't be before 8 weeks.    I called them today.  I am going to take them in to get dewormed and Jasmine some shots next Saturday.  I wanted to turn her and the kitties in early, but it looks like that is not in the cards.   They won't take them until they are 8 weeks old.

I'll have to go buy some more KMR.  I'll try mixing it with the wet kitten food.

I feel bad for Jasmine.  There's nothing I can do for her, I guess.

She and the kittens are in the spare bedroom still.  I let her out of the kennel all day so far.  When I made her stay in the kennel last night, she was out of sorts.  I should have realized what was going on, but I've not dealt with a non-spayed female cat before!  I guess it's like she has her 'period'.

I forgot you were fostering. Hopefully nursing the kittens will calm her down a bit. It's just a miserable time for cats. And she may well have another heat before you turn her in. I hope she's not screaming too much! My cat screamed all night long. Not fun.

She is having convulsions this morning!!  I had her locked in the kennel with the kittens all night.  She destroyed the inside.  Poor kittens.  After I cleaned the inside of the cage up and put fresh bedding and water and food, the babies were trying to eat the dry food!  So, I put some wet kitten food in there.

The I was going to vacuum the room.  Jasmine started to jerk and drool and I thought she was going to die!  I had an older cat die in front of me and this was quite similar.  Well then she laid down on the carpet, which is probably trash, now, and then one of the kittens started to nurse.  The other kittens saw this and ran over to nurse too.  I left them to nurse.  After that, I vacuumed really good.  There was litter everywhere.  I moved the cage out of the corner and cleaned everywhere.  The kittens are not afraid of the vacuum.

So, yesterday she was all sweet and purring.  Today, she is having these convulsions and drooling and is just so out of it.  I feel so bad for her.  She really needs to get fixed.

I am waiting till the apl opens and then I'm going to go talk to the vet tech.

I also have issues myself.  I had knee surgery on a torn meniscus, but also have osteoarthritis.  I just got the last of three Orthovisc shot in my knee.  I have a really hard time walking and doing steps is painful.  The washer/dryer is in the basement and I'm doing so much laundry now with the bedding.  I also can't move very fast so when she got out of the room last night and the kittens ran out after her, I had trouble herding them back in the room.

Not only that, but I have a rash that I think may be caused by Jasmine.  I thought it was medication I was on for pain so I stopped taking it.  After handling Jasmine so much yesterday, the rash is really bad.  I think I may be allergic to her.  Is that even possible considering I have 3 cats and never had any issues before?

No, the convulsions are not normal. She needs to see a vet quickly, Something is very, very wrong. She might be having a reaction to something, did you put any flea medication on her? If so, she needs to be bathed with dawn dish soap, plain and to see a vet. I hope she is alright.

Did she possibly eat anything? Chew on plants or something, seems possibly, poisoning of some sort. I am sorry to alarm you, but I am alarmed at the description of Jasmine that you posted.

I agree with Nansilude, the convulsions is nothing natural.  Reaction to something she ate?  Perhaps even calcium deficiendy?  Anyways, an asap vet errand.

Give her water to drink - preferably milk of some sort.. If you KNOW she managed cow milk since earlier, this.  If not, perhaps low lactose milk.  Or goat milk if yo do have it... Whatever you have at hand.

This waiting for taxi to the vet - getting her to the vet is more important than try with home remedies...

I took her and the kittens to the apl and they took Jasmine to the emergency vet. Said the seizures were epileptic. The kittens are alone in a cage there! I got a call and they asked if I have her flea med but I hadn't. The vet wanted to know that to know which med to give her. Another emergency came in while I was there and they asked me to leave for now. They said if Jasmine doesn't make it they don't know if the kittens will either being in the cage alone but they are drinking water and using the litter box and this morning was trying to eat dry food. I bought some kmr and am going back out there with it. If they leave some in a bowl and some food and water and litter they can make it. They were 4 weeks old on Friday. I've been working on getting them to drink and eat and use the box. I don't think I can take them home with me. I'm so sad and distraught. I'm having a hard time with this.

Oh, goodness! Poor Jasmine! So glad you took her to the vet though. I certainly hope she makes it!

I'm not understanding why you can't take the kittens home to care for them while Jasmine is being treated. Have you asked about taking them home and offering to finish hand-rearing them? Hopefully they will change their mind on this, and good you are visiting them and they are eating wet food too. I pray the kittens make it too!

Post an update when you can please. This whole situation is troubling.

I agree with @sarthur2. I am wondering though, I thought Jasmine was at your house, why did you bring the kittens to the Vet? As long as they are doing well, you probably will need to go get them, and bring them back and see if you can feed and care for them. I sure hope Jasmine will be okay.

I didn't know what was happening. I wasn't sure. They took her to the vet not me. Since they are a foster they technically belong to the apl but I'm outside and just about to go in to talk to them now. I'll post in a bit
