I have been using Nature's Variety Instinct LID Rabbit since December 2014. My three cats have thrived on it and love it. But unfortunately, I feel I must find a new brand. Every single bag I have purchased this year, has been past the use by date. I have bought in multiple stores and ordered online. All have been expired according to their stamped dates. The last bag I purchased a couple weeks ago also had mystery kibble mixed in. I contacted NV and only received the standard, we don't recommend using past the use by date, response. No response regarding the mystery kibble.

My kids are on the LID as recommended by their vet. I had them on EVO, but all 3 gained a substantial amount of weight. So, they were switched to the Raw Boost formula, but shortly after switching, all 3 developed bloody stools for a week. So the vet suggested a good LID diet, which has worked wonderfully for them and they love it. Yes, they also receive canned food.

So I would like to find another LID, obviously grain free, preferably rabbit, food. Suggestions?

I think Royal Canin makes a hypoallergenic food in rabbit, but believe it requires a prescription, which means it'll be pricey.  That's an option though.

Have you talked to the stores that are selling the NV and asked THEM why they aren't stocking food that's not past the expiration date?

I am considering Orijen now.

I have not spoken with the stores. I have purchased this food from 2 local stores and 3 online stores. ALL have been past date. That's a lot of stores to ask why it's out of date. hahaha

Consider Acana (Orijen sister company). Acana is lower protein, but easier on tummy. It is flat disk shaped.
