Big Girl has been in my life for over a year and half now. She was my Moms stray that she fed first actually. My Mom has since passed away, so that makes my connection with Big Girl so special. She cuddled endless hours with me while I laid crying with a broken heart.

Big Girl has chronic Upper Respitory Infections, thick yellow discharge coming out of her nose, coughing, yacking, hacking, sneezing... I only had enough $ to do one blood test to rule out Fungal Disease. I was in the midst of trying to save up to doMORE  lab work ( for all other diseases, allergy panel, cultures, etc) i FEEL she is allergic to something, I wanted ore tests done because I am sick and tired of going to the vet paying almost $80 for guesstimates because the only way to tell what the real culprit is, is by testing. and that costs an arm and a leg.

Unfortunately two weeks ago that got sidelined because my Vet discovered Big Girl has a BAD and painful case of Stomatitis- inflammation of the mouth. Her throat is fire red, so are her gums. She started hanging her mouth open cause it hurt to much and has trouble eating her favorite foods. She drools  puddles. I give her antibiotics, anti viral, antihistimines and now pain killler and ll-lysine. All of that isnt killing her infection. My Vet broke it down for me- the only real option for her is to extract teeth- possibly ALL of them but wont know for sure until she is looked at. that can cost anywhere between $800- $2000!! I dont have that kind of money right now, but day after I get heartsick just looking at her, so I decided to start a GO FUND ME page to see if I could raise the money faster than it would take to earn it by saving and working because lets face it- Biggie doesnt have time. I hate asking people for money like this but my love for her and her wellbeing trumps my uncomfortable feelings about begging strangers for money. lol. I gotta try.

If any of you animal lovers could share this on your social media or anywhere really were it could be seen, I'd be beyond thankful. Im having a hard time getting my own friends to help me spread the word. Word isnt spreading which means donations are not rolling in. My rescue story & explaination of her illness is included in the campaign. i understand completely if you cannot donate, but sharing this link would be just as helpful and mean so much. All I keep thinking is that if I could reach 2,000 strangers to donate $1 - the second that happens Biggie goes for treatment, but I know it never happens that way :(

WWW.GOFUNDME.COM/BigGirl  is her link to donate plus our story.

Also I may snap before then and end up taking her into the hospital if I feel she is suffering too much, and Ive always been so confused on what kind of testing I can do /ask for that tests for the most things at once? Is there a certain test that I should do?  I also feel maybe something is in Biggies throat, myabe a polyp or under her tongue.... this discharge has been too suspect. I'm dying for answers. Oh also any diet tips l-lysine supplements any anything extra to do for a URI/Stomatitis kitty patient?

Thank you, my dear cat lovers. :)

From the Mod Team Regarding Pleas for money:

Cats are a huge responsibility. Anyone who thinks otherwise, should not have one in their life. They are dependent on us for everything from providing a place to eat, to also providing vet care.

Anyone who has cats knows that they can and do get ill. Your best defense is to plan for that to happen before it does, and store monies away in preparation.

If you read about a plight of an animal on the internet and your heart is drawn to help, check out the story thoroughly. Google the vet's name or call Directory Assistance in the city and be sure this is a legitimate claim.

Do not blindly send money into a paypal account no matter how heart-wrenching the story. Instead reach out to the member and ask for the vet's name and phone number, and arrange to send the money there for the specific needs of the cat in question.

If that information cannot be provided- you have your answer. Report the post to a moderator so that it can be removed for not being on the level.

I am a HUGE advocate of pets only being adopted by SERIOUS pet parents only. I cannot stand when people get a cat or dog & then when they have a baby or things get hard they just "take it back to the shelter"  and to add insult they wont take the time to find, research or interview potential replacement parents and make sure the animal goes into good hands, with loving people & safe environment.Alot of people in this category most likely adopted a pet for selfish reasons "I want a cute kitten NOW!!" " I will get girls if Im seen out on the street with a dog" , ETC without thinking long term or about the animals needs. I tell people adopting a pet is a HUGE responsibility and they need draw out a long term plan and then make their judgements. They should factor in: if they can commit to 10-15 ( sometimes more) YEARS of pet parenting  responsibilities, depending on how long their pet lives, food costs, toys, vet visits and teeth cleanings. Also factor in being prepared with an emergency fund for UNEXPECTED,health emergencies.Because life isnt perfect and things happen beyond our control,so we should prepare the best we can. Potential adopters should factor in TIME- will they have time to actually care for and be with the animal?physical abilities to walk/play/ exercise in SOME way with their pet? Do they have a plan for who will take care of pet while on vacaton? Is their home /environment pet ready? Pets really do improve your health and are benefical for people with illness, etc but they must factor a way to be sure the animals needs can be fufilled, put them first.

Even though kind hearted people or families who have best intentions can still fail to consideration ,plan, think it through.People only see the happiness  and cuteness pets can provide and it blinds them to all the responsibilities and not not so cute side. When people decide to get a pet, its no secret they adopt mostly kittens or puppies and start parenting from the early stages of their life, and nothing is wrong with that. But it leaves the sad realization that the older animals often get overlooked and they spend their lives behind bars. All of those pets are there because of human actions. for example -A human adopts a cute kitten and the family is really into being good cat parents. The kitten grows into a cat and when their pet is not cute anymore or they lost interest in the pet ,etc they decide to take it back to where they got it. Dont they know that if they went to the shelter looking for kittens or puppies other people do to. So now there is this pet , because of that humans actions on deciding to adopt this kitten from the shelter irresponsibly, it robbed the kitten from a good life. Their pet was a kitten when they took him and a cat giving him back. Now he is sitting in a shelter most likely to be overlooked and overlooked by people who want cute tiny baby animals, when it could have been adopted from a SERIOUS cat owner in the 1st place. Shelter is filled with animals with stories similiar to that. Potential pet owners dont think about that. Im not saying all people are selfish with their animal returns,I understand there are some circumstances that cannot be helped in life and situations that  are excusable.

I'm confused, I'm not sure your goal of your response to my post  ? because most of that information doesnt apply to my post. This is a STRAY cat I've been trying to help. I did not go out an purposely choose to take on responsibility for another animals life, I didnt plan her arrival in my yard, it was unexpected ( which adopters dont consider unexpecting factors  & expenses when they purposely decide to go ahead with adoption) I imagine this kitty was actually abandoned by its original owner, probably because it couldnt keep up with the care it needed. But she was abandoned on the street while very sick. With her pending health at the time, there was no time to hash out responsibilities, the rules, the moral guidbook, etc even though I did find time to try in addition to watching /feeding her.I tried.I searched for her original owner,I asked loving people if they wanted to adopt her, I called shelters & at the time they told they were overwhelmed with unwanted pets, I  looked at all the possibilities because I knew I wasnt in a position to be a full time cat parent to ANOTHER kitty. But sometimes parents throw all logic out the window and "make it work"  day by day minute by minute. I couldnt leave her sick on the street and just "hope" a for the best that a kind soul will scoop her up. Being emotionally frustrated and overwhelmed by having compassion for a sick animal, sometimes you forget to be concerned about all the guideline and rules. Those emotions drove one goal, to see if I can help her and in desperation I just started posting anywhere that seems like they care about animals and reach their likeminded audience in a slighest hope that maybe 1 person would "share" it let alone donate big bucks.

its frustrating to see campaigns for animals a Go Fund Me making $10,000 or more so with donations raking in to help build their spoiled cat a throne  ( being facetious here but you get the picture) when I just want to make the amount that pays for a stray cats surgery. Which now she is family but the circumstances are still the same. Also, in my post I included questions /asked advice, needed tips about Vet testing, the purpose wasn't  meant to seem  "gimme money". I understand people being suspect and suspicious for bids for money using a sob story because I AM suspicious of those people!! because sadly it happens all the time. Thats why I went overboard in the campaign to provide all I could to prove authencity. Now not only do I feel desperate now I feel stupid. I'm truly sorry if I offended any posters and owners you can remove it if you chose to do so. All my brain was thinking at the tim of posting was where I had the best chances of raising money for Big Girls surgery. Thank you.

For chronic URIs that are herpes related I'd recommend lysine supplements like you say you're giving. Antibiotics won't fix a URI if it's caused by a viral infection. As for the stomatitis, yes a full mouth extraction is ultimately the way to go but there are options for medical management while you save up the money for that. Ask your vet about prednisolone. It's not a long term solution but it can be very effective on reducing inflammation until you can have her teeth extracted.
