So far out in left field I got lost
I took Mom,my brother,Spideycat and my sister, Kittywarden and her hubby to visit Dad's grave yesterday. It's a 3 hour trip one way from here. I was under the impression that Dad's marker would be on his grave as of last Thursday....it wasn't there
I feel like I let them all down, especially my Dad
Dad I am so sorry I am trying

I have been trying to reach the people that I have been dealing with about Dad's marker and always get the answering or fax machine. I have sent them faxes, left messages. When I do finally get to talk to a human I am told not to worry that it will be on before Christmas. I was told the beginning of last week that it would be in on Thursday
Now what? Do I go to another company for Dad's marker? I am so upset about this

Cathi,
I'm sorry that such things have to happen. check with the company again and if they do not respond, change a new company to do it. I'm sure your dad knows you are trying...

I can really understand why you're so upset, and I think what you're being put through is terrible!!! IMO, a business like this one should make an effort to be more sensitive and responsive to the feelings and needs of those who have recently lost a loved one. If they say they will have the marker on the grave by a certain day, then it should be there!

Sorry I don't have any advice.

Just my 2 cents...

I had exactly the same experience when my father died. The monument company kept promising it would be there, but it never materialized. We had a lawyer friend call the company, and state very plainly that services are expected. Within a week the monument was placed at the grave. Later that year, we saw this company being profiled on a local news show. Apperently, others had problems getting the monuments as well and the company ran off with people's funds.

There are many con artists within the funeral business and it happens quite often. If you can, get a lawyer just to place a call to this company like we did. Also, contact your local Better Business Bureau and find out if they have this company on record.

It's a horrible thing to happen, especially when you are grieving over a loved one. Sometimes you have to threaten these companies with legal action in order to get the services taken care of!

Good luck!

I totally agree.

I'm sorry this happened to you blondiecat. :sniff: I know your dad isn't disappointed in you and I'm sure your family isn't either. There was nothing you could do. It's the company's fault not yours!

I'm sorry to hear that you're going through this. I don't have much advice to give apart from contacting the company to see what is going on. And perhaps do what Russian Blue suggested.

I do hope things improve soon. It's not your fault and I am sure everyone knows that you have been trying your best.
