My rescued foster cat is in labour... it's 4:30 a.m. here and no vet is available. i had adopted a stray pregnant cat and handled her delivery before and it was all quiet smooth. but this one delivered two kittens and a stillborn kitten and now she is resting peacefully while the kittens are drinking from her. but the problem is that she she still looks as fat as she looked before labour... which makes me wonder if she has more kittens in her... she delivered the previous ones between 10:30 p.m. to 1 am... and nothing since then... is she done or could she be just resting? she even came out of her pregnancy area to use the litter... she seems perfectly relaxed... not meowing like she was before she delivered the previous babies... And it's too late and in my area, there is no 24/7 vet available... am i worrying about nothing or is it a reason to concern? she really doesn't seems to be in any kind of pain... but shouldn't she look slimmer after the birth? because right now, it's just a slight difference in her size...

Delays are normal between kittens, sometime days

If she not in distressed then everything should be fine

Okay. Thanks. I am worried because one of the three kittens was stillborn... could this mean that there is more trouble ahead?

Thank you folks for helping out... she is very calm at the moment... but isn't cleaning herself... so maybe she knows there's more to come. I just burried the stillborn one... feel so bad right now... i can only imagine what she must be feeling...

Cats don't immediately get "thin" after delivering. Just like human women, we retain some padding from the pregnancy. It takes time to get her figure back. Hang in there!

She may very well be done, but may just as well not be. Sometimes they will take hours long breaks in between, or even can be days since she may have conceived at different times too.

You will see soon enough, but if she begins acting different or unwell, stressed, then I would get her seen by a vet.

Likely won't happen this way, if we could just ask them to tell us!

She isn't acting unwell or stressed in any way... like she is silently feeding her kittenss, but usually in stress or pain she gets too talkitive or will start walking around. When her labor pains started, she followed me even if i just went to get some water. She would constantly keep talking. But she's just looking her usual calm self... doesn't even notices me there as she's busy with get babies.

It sounds as normal as it can be for the moment.  If there are more, they will follow in their own time.  Continue to be watchful, this may be touchy sitaution, but you dont need to panic as things are going for now.

Good luck!

So my foster cat gave birth to 3 babies. But I have no idea if she is taking care of them or not... i do see them feeding off her every now and then... but when they sleep, she comes out of her bix leaving them alone and will sit on the floor. She even goes to the garden for a couple of hours at a time... i don't know if they are getting enough milk or not... i tried to bottle feed them but they didn't drink it so maybe they are well fed. But should the cat leave them for 1-2 hours? Mostly, she doesn't goes far but just out of the box but in the same room.and the kittens too are very quiet and not meowing but just sleep. (I read somewhere that hungry kittens meow a lot...) if i pick them up, i can feel they are warm enough... Is this normal? Is there a way to check if their tummies are full? They are 3 days old now.

Are they larger than when they were born? Also can you check the momma kitty and see if they are nursing from her? You can tell because the fur around her mammary glands will be gone. I think as long as they are warm and not crying and are gaining weight, they should be doing well. I sure hope they do well. Now, does she have any lumps on her sides as if a kitten may still be there?

There are no lumps. She had 5 babies but 2 were stillborn. The three so drink from her... I've seen them do it... and yes, the fur is gone from her nipples. But my worry is that I'm not sure if she is spending enough time with them... shouldn't she be with them at all times? This one seems to only come to them to feed them every 1.5 hrs, and when they fall asleep, she will go and sit on the other end of the room. Also, the kitten many times do not huddle up... they're often sleeping a few inches away from each other. But they stay warm as it's very hot here right now.

They look very healthy for 3 days old. It is normal for mama cat to leave them while they sleep and take a break nearby. Her internal clock tells her when to go feed them and potty them. It all sounds very normal to me. They eat about every couple of hours right now and do lots of sleeping. :)

Thanks. I was just confused because my pet cat, when she had her babies (she was pregnant when i adopted her)... she wouldn't leave them for a minute... but this one seems more laid back... maybe she is more experienced...

So the mother is trying to move her babies... I've chosen the most secluded spot for her and she is trying to take them out in the garden where they really won't be safe... why is she doing that? I cleaned the bedding and even after that, she tried again...
