He's a sweet calm shelter kitten.  They can only say he's a domestic shorthair mix.  What do you think he is?

Now, they cant say much more if they are honest.   The pattern seems to be the Van pattern - the tail is dark, no?

But the looks - the Looks!!!   If I ever saw a wanna be  Oriental,   picked up from among random shelter kittens, this is the one.   With that big and broad ears at that, and that rather pointed muzzle.   Some things may happen till he is adult, he is pretty young,  but these big ears will remain, Im sure.

I wouldnt be the least surprised, if somebody come with proof se is the real thing, purebred and everything , perhaps  a practical joke made on us in this forum.   Or an admitted purebred queen  from a recognized breeder whom died.

Do you know anything more about him, save he is from a shelter?

Alternatives?  The near cousin of Orientale, the modern siamese.  A mixed out child of a siamese will almost always lose the point - as the point gene is not dominant.  It must be doubled to show.  Thus, a siamese who by any reason isnt a point, will be a Orientale look alike, while an Orientale who is a point, will be a siamese look alike.

I will want to follow his further development.  Please  report now and then.

And dont forget to be very mommy to him.  He is very young, Im not even sure he is 8 weeks, I would guess on 5-6.

If you need more advices on young kitten care, you are welcome to our Pregnant and kitten care forum.  Im there too.

Good luck!

Thank you StefanZ!

I'm so sad, the kitten you helped me with was adopted by someone who applied before me.  They notified me today of the news.

So I won't know if he was an oriental but I agreed with your thoughts!  I was thinking he was an Oriental as well!

I came across another kitten that I'm thinking the same thing about!!!! His name is Wolverine!  Do you think he may an Oriental as well???

He's completely black, no other markings.

Yes, NOW even I do see little Volverine.  He is pretty young, about 3 weeks, at most four.  So its even more difficult to say for sure.

But yes, I too think he has some Oriental  air about him,   Also,  many Orientals are solid in coloring, often black solids.

Try and find pics on very young Orientale kittens, and compare with them.  :)
