I hope everyone had a good weekend!

I was just sharing in the gardening thread that my Mother is bringing home part of the Rhubarb plant from my Grandparent's backyard for me to plant here.  Boy that brings back memories for me!!  When my cousin's and I were kids our Grandpa would cut us a stalk of rhubarb and Gram would give us a little dish with white sugar in it. We'd dip the rhubarb in the sugar and just bite it off.  Yummy!
But the BEST was Gram's rhubarb pie!  My Gram really had the touch when it came to pie making and she always let us kids help.  I'm reading that it takes 3 years before you can harvest your own rhubarb; but I really want to be able to make a rhubarb pie with the plant that came from their yard.  It could be a nice way to keep my Grandparent's with me.

What is your favorite kind of pie?

I always say that my favorite is raspberry!  I'll order that if we are out and they have some.  I haven't lived near my Grandparent's for over 20 years; but thanks to Facebook I have contact with some people I knew back then.  A childhood friend's mother posted a picture this weekend from her birthday celebration.  I recognized the place; it was the restaurant that got me started on raspberry pie!  That place still looks the same after all these years!

So raspberry is my favorite; but if I'm cooking I almost always do apple pies.  I love them!  The only pie that topped Gram's rhubarb pie was her apple pie.  Mine don't taste exactly like Gram's so that's probably why I can't say apple is my most favorite.  At least not at the moment.

It's almost hard to pick because really any kind of fruit filled pie is good.  The only one I don't like is store-bought apple pies.  I'll eat them; but they are always full of syrupy filling with little fruit.  Sometimes I will buy the mini-frozen pies as a treat for DH and I.  I usually go with cherry there.  I might have to do that tomorrow; since pies are clearly on my mind!

Gosh I can't even pick.

I recently had my first strawberry rhubarb.  Wondered what took me so long! Right up there with favs now.

I'm pretty partial to blueberry, and apple is always a win too.

When in Florida, Key Lime does the trick.  Lemon Merinque also makes me really happy.

I think the only one I'm not big on is pecan pie.  Too sweet for my tastes.

Oh and...Crack Pie!  OMG. Addictive.  It's well named. Also seriously sweet but that one I make an exception for :D

Apple. No, wait, Lemon Meringue. Yeah, Lemon Meringue. No....Apple.

I have two: Apple and Lemon Meringue
. (not necessarily in that order)

For as much as I love rhubarb and as much as I love strawberries, I have never tasted strawberry rhubarb pie. My GF makes them whenever she can and everybody says how delicious they are, but I've had never had a taste. I guess I should try a slice next time she makes one.

I couldn't really say it kind of depends on what mood I am in.  My favorites are apple, cherry, lemon merengue, pecan and pumpkin.  The only pies I don't care for are sweet potato and mincemeat..  I don't care for mincemeat even when it's the more modern version that doesn't contain meat, I am not a huge fan of raisins.  I remember many years ago a lot of people added raisins to apple pie.  I couldn't figure out why people wanted to add raisins to a perfectly good apple pie.

I'm not big on sweet pies but key lime is good. I prefer savory pies like pot pies or the cheeseburger pie I used to make for DH. I guess quiches can be considered pies so those are good too. Quiche Lorraine.

I like a good chicken pie with just a top crust. We eat quiche, too; I like it.
Ditto!

I'm the Quiche Queen in my family.  I learned from my mom.  I could live on quiche alone and would be far heavier than I am now, and happy :D

My personal favourite is keylime or lemon pie. I love the creamy and tangy flavours.

I second the need for more information on a butterfinger pie.

me too. I love key lime pie best when it's frozen. No meringue though. I can't stand that stuff

I agree. More information about the butterfinger pie, please. DD would love that. It wouldn't be this, would it? I bet the cool whip could be swapped out for a fresh lightly sweetened whipped cream for a more natural taste

I am okay with meringue, but my husband hates it! So we usually serve it with fresh whipped cream instead. I like any custard pie that comes with whipped cream on top (pumpkin, keylime, lemon, eggnog pie).

Y'all are making me hungry! Might have crack out my pie dishes ...

It's just me at home until Tuesday night when I go get DD from school. She'll be home for the summer. Our local grocery store chain (Publix) makes a very good key lime pie. I might need to go see if they have a half one available.

I hate meringue too. It never loses that raw egg white taste.

Oh, how I miss Publix and their key lime pie!! I'm from FL originally, so I got quite spoiled with having like 3 Publixes (Publixi? Publixies?) within a short drive of me.

That's what my husband says about meringue. My issue is that they usually put so MUCH! A little goes a loooong way. I bet your daughter can't wait to be home with you and some keylime yumminess!
