Hi all, I'm posting for a co-worker who was asking me about his cat. This cat was a stray about a year ago, my co-worker's family decided to keep her, and at first she had to live in the garage (yeah not ideal at all) due to many in the family having allergies from the cat. Eventually they realized that this was not the best life for the cat and now she's an indoor/outdoor cat (mostly outdoor) and they just kinda suffer through the allergies when necessary. Anyway, she's been in good health (they took her to the vet after the decision to keep her was made and she was healthy) ever since, but now a strange symptom has shown up-- hair thinning/loss in a line down her back. I asked him if she has any other symptoms, like excessive scratching or biting, loss of appetite, etc, but he says everything's the same, it's just the hair loss.
Anyone have a clue what this could be? The only thing I could think of was fleas, since it's getting warm here and she's an outdoor cat, but I've never heard of a line of hair loss down the back before...
