Dear cat people,

Does anybody have experience with prucalopride (Resolor) for the treatment of megacolon? Unfortunately we don't have cisapride in Germany.

I'm just bumping this thread up for you.  Personally, I don't recall hearing about that medication on this site, but that doesn't mean no one has any experience with it.  I DO know these two drugs are of the same class, and there are two others as well.  That's all I could find by doing a little research, sorry.

I'm gathering you're cat is getting Prucalopride, possibly along with Miralax (or it's UK equivalent
)  It is not working?

Thanks for bumping :-)

We have no procinetic medicine for animals in Germany since cisaoride is forbidden :-(

At the moment my (future, in four weeks) cat is on cisapride which is imported from the Netherlands along with Miralax. It works very well but the cisapride suspension tastes SO awful. She hates it even though her foster mom covers it in liquid treat.

We would love to have something that's easier to handle for example pills.

I saw that you have cisapride pills and cisapride suspension with taste in the US. I'm SO jealous!
I think you get it only with prescription, right?
On May 4th I come to the US. Any ideas how I could get cisapride?

Well, if you were to see a Vet here in the U..S. you might get a prescription, but the problem is, you would still have the issues of getting it back into Germany thru customs, I'm guessing.  Not sure how that works

Does the Prucalopride come in pill form?  If so, maybe you should give it a chance?  It might be just the ticket!

Prucalopride is prokinetic. is there a reason you don't want to try it?

The reason is - cats are no humans. There has only been one study on cats some years ago. No reports about long term effects :-(
