My 1 1/2 year old feral cat has become loving of neck and ear scratching. Last week she suddenly bit me on the wrist and held her teeth on my wrist. Shortly the area turned red and broke out in bumps. It was itchy for days and then the bumps scabbed. I still have a few bumps that are mildly itchy. What was it? I kept thinking it was just a saliva reaction but could it have been something else? Am I allergic to cat saliva? Her sudden reaction to me was not enough time to see her usual behavior change, vibe change when she wants me to stop stroking her. I am concerned she is escalating her attack behaviors again.

There are a lot of bacteria in their mouths, so the reaction could be almost for anything.

As the reaction goes down, lets presume it wasnt no serious infection.

But of course,  a good desifinection after every bite or scratch is essential, unless you do have some extra strong immunity system.

You know of the trick, immediately before a bite, they usually put back their whiskers.

Also, the more wellknown telltales, when they begin to be impatient, the tail begins to go left and right, left and right...   So look up with the change in the tail movements, and as soon you notice she begins to be impatient, break off.

This was very sudden. I can usually tell when she has  "had enough" and I look for  the tail swish and the "cold" vibe. She was sitting on my computer desk and had been rubbing my hand for an ear scratch. I was off guard ... she suddenly hissed and bit in the same moment. It was very bizzare. It makes me nervous as I have a young grandchild who visits every couple of months. She wants desperately to pet the cat but I keep them far apart. The cat is very jealous of the baby but seems to know that her refuge would disappear if she did anything. Annika stays far away and hides in the basement but more recently  when the toddler visits has just taken up a distant spot in another room. The rash is about 3 weeks old now and still can be itchy but it eventually scabbed. I had an injury in the same arm in the winter and the nerve damage may have made the bite more toxic than normal.
