What could be the problem if she is just doing it every so often? Sometimes she goes in the box, and sometimes it's just ouside of it. It's big enough for her, and I always keep it clean. TIA!

Sorry, I've been out of town, so I didn't see your post until just now.

Whenever you have elimination problems, the first thing to do is to take the cat the the vet. These problems are most often due to medical problems.

This happens in my house occasionally when my little bully cat won't let the shy cat get to the litter box. If you have multiple cats, this might be the problem. Having boxes on each floor of the house can help with this.

Thanks lotso. She's doing better now and no accidents recently (crossing fingers). If it happens again, I'll definitely take her to the vet. We have two cats, but the older one is indoor/outdoor and doesn't use a litter box, so if she checks out okay with the vet, I'll try one of your other suggestions.
