We have a 9 month old cat that as the title suggests pees on our bed, hats and any shirts that might be on the ground. The behavior started shortly before we moved from NY to FL, while in NY she would pee in the bathtub which we assumed she was doing because our old cat didn't mainly because the kitten would attack her whenever she used the litter box. Now we're staying with family in FL and have been here since Dec. When we first came down here she was using the litter box just fine, but if I forgot to empty it that day she would pee on the bed. I got into the habit of emptying the litter box everyday, but now she only uses the litter box if we catch her and put her in the litter box, and seems to wait to pee until right after we leave the room we're keeping then in.

I want to add we have to keep them in our bedroom, they're not allowed to roam our family's house, we do let her roam the house when we're the only ones home but she still pees outside the litter box after we put her back in the room(she doesn't pee anywhere in the house). We use Stink Free on the spots she pees, and she doesn't pee on the same spots of the bed.

I read UTIs have bloody pee, and her pee looks normal, but is VERY pungent, but she was fixed at 17 weeks so I don't think its spraying.

Also I don't know if this means anything but her refusal to use the litter box does correspond with us having higher stress about moving back to NY.

We also read she might have separation anxiety, she used to cry whenever we left her in the room alone, if she roaming the house she won't let us go to the bathroom without her, as soon as we come home she runs to us and purrs, if she's on our lap and we try to move her she gets violent and scratches or bites us hard, she insists on sleeping on us or next to us.

First step is to get her to the vet to be checked out.  Since her pee is strong smelling you want to be sure it's nothing easily treatable.

Secondly, have you tried Feliway diffusers or Composure calming supplements?  They might help with some of the stress.  You can find both on Amazon.  The feliway you just plug in, and the Composure comes in treat form or liquid.  I find the liquid easy to add to wet food.  The cats really can pick up on that.

Thirdly, do you play with the cats so they can get some of their energy out?

What type of litter box are you using?  Is it big enough?  Is there enough litter (deep enough).  Is another cat preventing her from using it or is she scared to use it?  How many litter boxes do you have?

We just took her to the vet, her pee was fine so they gave me amitriptyline to give her for stress. We were giving her an all natural anxiety and stress supplement, but I'm going to stop that since I don't know how it will react with her meds. But now I'm concerned that she only had once dose and she's actuling really lethargic.

As for the litter box, we keep the litter pretty deep and we do have an older cat, but she mostly just ignores the kitte(except for grooming) and doesn't bother her with the litter box.
