I found a kitten on they side of the road eating in a trash can about 4 days ago at around 630 am. I took her homebut I keep her and hwr food seperatefrom my other 2 cats.whichakes me feel bad like I'm neglecting them but I don't want them to get sick and I want the kitten to feel loved right now I don't have the money to take her to the vet yet as I just moved into my townhouse. I'm going to try to take her somewhere on the first.I have posted found kitty fliers with her picture all around where I found her. Some things I noticed about her is that she has a odor coming from her urine and she has only had 2 bowl movements and she has snot and boogers constantly coming out when she sneezes and she seems so stuffed up also Her stomach feels swollen and bumpy and it looked like she had a discharge coming out maybe it was from when she tries to clean her self. It's hard for her to breathe when eating and cleaning. I found what looked like vomit this am and it was yellow and had a bunch of hair in it. I don't like picking her up because of her belly so I have tried to wash her up with baby wipes. Make sure she has food water and plenty of love She is so sweet. But I don't want my other babies getting sick. Is there any recommendations for what could be wrong with her or what I can do until I can get her to the vet?I just couldn't leave her it broke my heart.

Also I am not planning on keeping herand I feel bad for that but I want to know where can I look for help with finding her a good loving home

OMG how sad....
She was obviously owned or exposed to people rather than feral since she is sweet and friendly.

There are several things I want to bring up here.

You don't say how long you've had her, or her approximate age. Any idea? If not, can you find out what she weighs?

First off she clearly has an upper respiratory infection (URI)

What color is the snot?

Are her eyes runny or crusty at all?

She is sure to have a tummy full of roundworms, that's a given.

What is the smell in her urine like, stronger urine or what? Is there any blood spots or strands in it? Mucous/blood in her poop?

The vomit. Yellow, thick like phlegm or very watery? The hair in it, did it look like her fur or no? Color of hair and color of her fur?

I will wait for these answers and be able to help better.

Please answer. Poor little thing. So nice of you to take her in. It's good not to expose your other cats because they can catch what she's got.

She really needs to see a vet asap.

The vomit was yellow and phlegmy it's hard to tell the color of the hair in the vomit. She is black but it looks like the sun has bleached half of her black hair on half of her body. And her urine smell is stronger than urine .the snot was green but it looks normal color now. And she is being more playful. The discharge has a greenish yellow tint. I'm unsure of her age maybe she is 3 months old I'm not sure. I'm sorry I am new at this and when I saw her I just had to help her. She has been with us for 5 days now and may be about 2 to 3lbs.

Does anyone know of any organizations that help find homes for strays and help with spaying and meds?

She most definitely needs medical help, there are some of her symptoms that are extremely alarming here.

Any green discharge from anywhere is a sign of infection, so she needs antibiotics, strong dewormer, and a good quality diet, canned pate is best now to get her system settled down.

She may have FIP as her tummy should not be squishy/distended.

I really hope not, she doesn't deserve a dead end, she deserves to get well and cared for, and in a loving forever home so she can grow and live a good long life.

I do suggest locating a rescue for help.

If you don't see any nearby, contact shelters and ask for rescues they know of and/or might use. (most shelters have a list they reach out to for rescue-worthy animals)

Ideally for a rescue to take her and fix her/get med help, but they may not be able to take her in to foster but will still get help for her medically.

My rescue does this all the time, we don't want any animal to suffer so as long as we have the means/funds or even meds we WILL help.

That's where I would start, do NOT get discouraged if you don't find help there. Continue on looking for rescue help, a veterinarian who has either a good samaritan fund, is willing to consider that you found this kitten, or works with rescues and gives low cost care, or one who will take pmts even.

You will be amazed at the help that is out there and available if you look for it.

Meanwhile, to help clear her stuffy nose, turn on straight hot water shower, close bathroom door and get it all steamed up in there, then put her in there for 10-15 minutes. This will break up her snot and make it runny and loose, draining out.

At some point when a cat can't breath or smell, they will stop eating, and that is not what you want at this point, she needs all the help she can get.

There are also these, well worth calling!

There are lots of places for help near you!

If you see a cat that needs rescued:
Please rescue the cat. The SPCA has an injured pet hotline, but their van covers the entire Harris County area; it may be hours before they can help an animal. If you call the hotline, stay with the animal until help comes.
