Jackie is emaciated and starving hungry. She eats plenty of wet food & has access to dry food at all times. Blood work came back all okay, vet says she is healthy, but after eating she has diarrhea & the smell is so powerfully aweful. Don't know why she doesn't gain weight. Anybody know what else is going on?

That really doesn't sound right. Has she been checked for parasites? I agree with @tulosai  , it might be better to look for another vet, preferably one who specialises in cats.

Did the vet check the blood glucose levels? If you're not sure, call the vet and ask. Excessive hunger and losing weight makes me think of diabetes. But there wouldn't be any diarrhea, just lots of sticky sugary clumps of urine in the litter box.

What brands of canned and dry food are you feeding? Just curious as the food may potentially be a culprit.

I agree with the others - get another opinion from a different vet. Bring copies of your cat's medical records to the new vet for review.

One thing I would ask for is a blood test that checks absorption of  B12 and folate.  The sample is sent to Texas A&M and results take about a week..  It isn't cheap, I just had it done for my IBD kitty and if I remember right it was $200.  I may be wrong about the price because I also paid for some labs for my other kitty at the same time.  It is a very good indicator of intestinal health.

I was going to suggest B12 myself, but I wouldn't bother with the test. Just have the vet give a shot and see what happens. It can't hurt, and if there is a deficiency, you will start to see a difference almost immediately

Hello all, thank you for responding to my post. Sadly Jackie had to be put down this morning. She went to sleep purring. We had 15 wonderful years with her. We still have 2 other cats, Mulder who is 15 years old and in good health & Spunkt a 2 year old that is healthy.

I'm so sorry to hear this. Poor Jackie, and poor you.

Please give your other two cats a hug from me.
