My four-year-old cats ear is constantly bothering him and they're clean and it's filthy every time.

Fred is my companion and obviously brings great joy to me and it bothers me to see him suffer. He's constantly pawing at his ear. I finally got him to allow me to trying clean them out but he has very little patience. If I can even just get I tissue in his ear it comes out pretty disgusting. He seems to overproduce wax I guess. I wonder if anyone else's had these kind of problems?
Any help would be a huge help as I'm disabled and can't bring him to the hospital.

if it looks like coffee grounds, it may be ear mites. 

if not, you can get cat ear wipes from the pet store.
