Update [emoji]128512[/emoji]
Willow and her babies are doing really well. I do have a question though. I have them in my bedroom where they can have peace and privacy as I have four other cats and two dogs. My question is when would I be able to move them into the living room? I have a large dog crate which I plan to put them in so they will be untouchable by my other pets. How can I tell when would be right to move them?

I would leave them in the bedroom for a couple of weeks so that mama doesn't get stressed. Kittens need low light and low noise ideally the first 2 - 3 weeks while their eyes and ears are shut and first opening. And mama needs privacy and quiet and low stress in the beginning as well. Glad to hear all is well! :)

Thankyou :)
That makes perfect sense. I go in regularly to make sure willow has food and water and she now likes to come and sit on my lap for a fuss while her babies are sleeping. I am happy to hear our quiet moments are going to continue for a good while yet [emoji]128522[/emoji]

You're welcome! The kittens will probably happily stay in your bedroom for several more weeks, even after they get their "sea legs" and begin exploring. They really like a "safe" zone when they are small.

Sorry,me again! I've read that kittens should put on about 10g a day and double their birthweight around 2weeks. Willow's babies are putting much more weight on than that,in fact one of them is now double his birth weight already and they are only 6 days old. The other 3 are not far behind. One even started opening an eye last night. It may seem a daft question, obviously people are usually worried if they are not putting enough weight on,but is it ok for them to gain this much? Mum is happy and eating well...not losing weight. Thankyou x

It's fine. Most likely they are really healthy, which is a good thing. Little round tummies sometimes indicate worms, but most likely they are nursing well and gaining good weight. My 4 grew big quickly as well, and are as healthy as can be at almost 7 weeks. They can seem like little piglets sometimes, but it's all good! :)

Fantastic, thankyou! I wormed willow right at the end of her pregnancy (a special one the vet gave me when willow had a check up, would that have helped protect the kittens against worms? Their tummies aren't permanently distended, only after feeding,so hopefully that's a good sign.
I must say that this whole experience is absolutely amazing! I have been incredibly lucky I guess, everything has gone like clockwork (except last baby was breech and stuck fast) and so far all are well :)
Thanks for all your help and advice, it has been a great comfort x

They probably do not have worms. :). This is ideal when all goes well as you indicate. It is fun and amazing - nothing quite like it! :)

I'm very concerned!! Willow is acting strange,I think she might be in labour again!! Her babies were born 7 days ago.

It is possible that she mated with another cat at the end of her cycle, and has another kitten on the way. Keep us posted!

There aren't any lumps still right after she was done giving birth were there? I am concerned there may have been a retained kitten. Can you get her to a vet and see if they can hear any heartbeats?

It all stopped after a couple of hours. I can feel what feels like a kitten in there but it's not moving atall :( she's still nursing her kittens and seems ok in herself. I'm watching her like a hawk in case she becomes unwell or signs of labour begin again. X

Hmmm. The only way to know is to take her to a vet for an x-ray or ultrasound, or just wait it out as long as she seems fine.

You may want to take her to a Vet and see if they can feel any kittens inside. I would be worried that there may be a retained kitten and if there is, by the time she shows any symptoms she will be very ill. Please do have a heating pad for the kittens while their mother is away, just enough to cover half of their sleeping area, if they get too warm they can crawl off. A sock or large pillow case partially filled with dry rice and microwaved until warm, be sure to test it on your wrist or elbow, makes a good temporary heat pad. does need to be reheated about every hour or two though.
