Okay so my almost 5 month old kitten, Male, Sam, is limping and he is hurt. I came home from school today and he was racing around as usual. then I went out and when I got back from that, I tapped my cats bowls (I have an older cat, Zoe who is about 1 and a half) against my fence thing to call them in for dinner. and usually they both come inside and I can feed them. but only Zoe came inside and Sam wasn't coming home. When he finally did, we noticed he wasn't trying to chase Zoe around like usual. he just wasn't himself. although he did eat all his dinner. He is now asleep on my bed and my mum and I tried to check him out a bit. he is limping on his front paw and is not putting any weight on it whatsoever. whenever we picked him up from his front, he cried out. we were Petting him and everything and he wasn't flinching. unless we touched just above his arm. we let him sleep for a while and we found a small scab/sore on his other side; opposite to his limping arm. he had been licking this spot and it had some blood. it was only small though. but now when we go to pat him, he flinches all of his body and won't let us touch him, except pat his head. We really want to take him to the vet but it's just I expensive for us at the moment. we just spent heaps of money on medicine for Zoe because she had an absist on her arm. Any advice on what it is or how to treat it??? anything at all would be helpful!! please please help me!

This sound like a more serious problem/injury than one I'd be happy to adopt a 'wait and see' approach with. Your best option it to get him to a vet. Apart from anything else,it sounds like he's in a significant amount of pain, and it's not fair to wait and make him suffer.

It could be an abscess again, is there any swelling or 'puncture' mark near the injury that could be a bite? If you absolutely can't take him to a vet, which is still the best option, you should be able to treat it with an over the counter antibiotic that shouldn't be expensive. I paid 10.00 for my last one. Call the vet and ask for the antibiotic, starting him on one might not be a bad idea, you could call and get some advise.  If it is an abscess, shortly after they can't put weight on it anymore it will burst and start draining, then you will know for sure. If it is a broken bone your kitten will definitely need to be seen, don't let him suffer. As long as he is eating and drinking, that is a good sign, encourage him with treats.  I know the heartache of not being able to bring an injured cat in, I pray that it is something that will heal in time. Good luck!

Thanks guys so much for the advice! He's acting like he normally does now so it might have just been a 24 hour bug or something like that. I will keep checking the small sore he has on him but he's purring and kneading our blanket like he usually does. I guess I'll just see how he goes :) Thanks so much!!
