Hello, I need some "cat people" help for a party.   My girls came from the local shelter and are about to turn one.  It started as a joke that I was going to have a birthday party for my cats but my friends and I thought it was a good a reason as any to have a party.   I love my kitties and they have a pretty sweet life but honestly I'm not one to throw a pet party but do enjoy a nice cocktail.

My idea is now to have a party and ask each guest to bring something to donate for the shelter kitties.  So now I and looking for ideas for treats for the humans in attendance.   Food and drink ideas with a cat theme, like maybe a "kitty colada" or goldfish crackers.   I think this will be fun and a chance to collect much needed items for the shelter.

  Any ideas?    Thanks!

That's a great idea, though I have to admit I have no idea what to suggest for treats.  Please let us know what you come up with.

Some of my friends have come up with some ideas and I am working on a cocktail to resemble a fish bowl.   I'll be making one of my cats' favorites, chicken kabobs.  I have several weeks to figure things out,  it should be fun.

Instead of a cheese ball shape it like a mouse. Use olives for eyes and julienned carrots for whiskers.

How about a shrimp or seafood dip that you could mold into the shape of a cat face using scallion tops for whiskers and bits of olives for the eyes and nose. you could use a green one for the eyes and use the pimento for a little red tongue and a black one for the nose

not really cat themed but VERY delicious would be these brown sugar smokies

You could serve hummus (either homemade or store bought) with veggies or pita chips and call it a "bean pate"- we are all too familiar with pates here.

Amazon has these adorable cat (and a mouse) cookie cutters. You can use them for cookies or for finger sandwiches

Thanks for the great ideas.  Some of my guests have come up with some great ideas too, one is bringing "meow mix", lots of others are just having with clever names for their specialties.  Hopefully I collect lots of donations for our friends at the shelter.
