This Saturday, April 25, will be our 50th wedding anniversary. Just can't believe it's been that long ---- do you believe me when I say I was only 3 when I got married?

And you guys can understand that the best anniversary present we could possibly receive is that fact that our little Tony is doing so much better. He's eating, becoming more active, his red blood cell count has gotten higher. Hope is keeps up.

As for us - we'll probably just go out to a nice dinner on Saturday. My nephew recommended a restaurant --- then he told us dinner and wine, etc. usually runs around $300. Too rich for our pocket. I love Outback so we might just go there. No $300 dinner for us - even if it's 50 years.

Happy anniversary!!!! I couldn't help but laugh at that mention of the 300.00 supper, we were appalled when our son-in-law mentioned a good place to get a steak and the said, "it's around 45.00 or so", I can't IMAGINE paying 45.00 for a steak! And this from the same one whining they are always broke! I think you must have got married when you were first born, you look marvelous! Congratulations on Tony getting a little better, I'll say a special prayer for him. Once again, HAPPY 50th!!!

Congratulations!  It's so nice to hear about a marriage that has withstood the test of time when so many people get divorced, sometimes multiple divorces.

I am with you,  I don't think any restaurant dinner is worth that kind of money.

Congrats on your anniversary, Lana!
Rick and I aren't too far behind you; we'll have 44 years in at the end of April!

I agree with you.....it will snow completely around the equator before I ever pay $300 for a dinner. I just won't do it.

Knowing that Mr. Tony is on the mend makes it an extra-special time for you two!

Happy Golden Anniversary! Tony's improvement is a terrific gift.

No way would we ever pay $300 for a dinner for two. Our upper limit is about $50 for a very special occasion - for two. :)

Happy anniversary!!

I'm with you all on skipping the expensive dinner. DH and I had a date night last week for the first time in ages. We went to Applebees and I noticed prices have really increased! All I'd be able to think about is what I could do with $300!! Besides eat!

We both love Applebees - and yes, their prices have increased. The things we used to get on the 2 for $20 are now 2 for $25.

We will probably go to Outback for our anniversary. Never had a bad meal there, and their steaks are probably the same as the ones we'd get in the super-expensive restaurants. $300 for a dinner is beyond us - always was and always will be. Yes - we could do a lot more with the $300. Need a new lamp for the family room -- and, of course, Tony's medical expenses! they're mounting - but he's worth it.

Many congratulations! Make sure to take some photos or videos (or have your waiter do it) during dinner. Put the rest of the world on pause that night, savour every minute, and make it all about just the two of you.
