I suppose it was only a matter of time!

Having said that; I'd probably save my money and stick with the swing I already have.  I know for some parents the swing is a life-saver with colicky babies.  It certainly helped me a lot when my 2nd was a newborn; and he wasn't a fussy baby.  Both swings I had went front to back or side to side; both plugged in so they could go for a long time if needed.  One of my nieces was a difficult sleeper and would only sleep in her swing until she was almost 8 months old!  My SIL may have appreciated being able to transfer her swing to a cradle.  I worried she would roll out of it; even with straps.

The thing I don't like is that babies need the hands-on interaction too; not to entertain themselves for hours (as the product description says they can with this swing).  I'm sure it helps mothers whose hands are full with other kids or multiples.  I have a friend who has 5 kids.  The youngest 2 are twins and for a little bit she had 4 kids ages 3 and under!!  I know the swings helped her; but she never made it seem like her twins spent "hours" entertaining themselves.  The babies were part of the household interaction.

To each their own I suppose.

I think my main concern with it isn't the cradle itself but the parents who depend on it too much.  Babies need to also be held and get the human interaction.  The prevailing theory for young children adopted from orphanages in foreign countries having the psychological issues with attachment is the lack of human bonding when they were babies.  Of course I doubt they had any visual stimulation either but I think getting enough human bonding is essential to babies.

I agree!  It also doesn't take that much effort to keep a traditional swing going.  If there are parents out there paying that little attention to their kiddos; it's probably worth discussing it with their doctor.  People don't always realize that both parents are susceptible to post-partum depression.  And then yes there are parents who fail to "grow up" and put down the video games long enough to be a parent.  I've heard that one too much on baby forums.
