Hi there
One of my cats had 2 kittens and we kept them for 9 weeks but they left together to their new home. My other Adult cat for the last month began to stay away. She would still come in for feeds but wouldn't stay in the house for long and would sleep outside. She is continuing to do this. I have given the house a good clean to get rid of the kitten smell but this hasn't helped. She was always so cuddly and such a home cat and would get along with the mother cat, but they are now aggressive towards each other. Will my other cat go back to her normal self and start getting along with the mother cat? I'm feeling guilty for keeping the kittens for so long but I wanted them to get a good start.

Dont feel guilty re the kittens,  you shouldnt have them shorter.  I know many get rid of them kittens earier, but that isnt nicely done.  8 weeks is the absolute minimum to be OK, we recommend 12, but  8 may be OK if you cant otherwise.

You reached the 9 which is better than 8.    :)

Now to the other cat.   Or rather, the mom and her not being pals any longer...   THIS you must work with.

Btw, are both spayed?  If mom isnt spayed, NOW is a very good time.

If theother isnt spayed yet, do it too.

Otherwise, my suggestion would be, you get home a Feliway adapter, making them both cats feel more harmonious and at ease.  Its not entirely sure it will help, but cant hurt and may help.

I think its wise to close in the outer going cat. So she is at home, and must solve the problems.

As it is now, as soon there are problems or not everything to her fancy, she can just leave and go out.

Let them have their bases in each own room, so they dont need to be together if they dont want.   Each one litter, each one food and water places,  each one own sleeping places.

If they want to share, they may, but if they wants to keep a little apart, they may.

A similiar problem may be with humans, and the solution may be similiar....  Ah memories arises, but I wont tell them here now.
