My baby lady is about 2.5 years old and just had a single kitten the night before last. I came home today and the kitten was crying in a panicked sort of way and lady was around the room instead of checking on him. I went to see if he was okay and he died. Immediately. I gave him to her to see if there was something she could do to save him and she cuddled him and purred but he didnt make it. Now she won't leave the bed she kept him in and keeps purring and breathing heavily. I think she's mourning him and doesnt know what to do. Is there anything I can do to help her? I cant watch my baby go through this....

Poor Mama, they do grieve for their lost kittens.

Contact your local shelter and see if they have any orphaned kittens. Mother cats will nurse another cat's kittens, it will comfort her and could help to save the lives of some other babies

Exactly my thought. There are endless orphans coming in now to shelters and humane societies, SPCA's, and many will not be saved due to lack of foster homes/bottle feeders.

Get her more babies.

If not, then remove all items that smell like the baby, take away that scent, and her mourning will fade faster.

HOWEVER! Something you should know now is, when a mom mourns, it sends them right in to heat again.

It's nature's way of replacing the lost kittens.

So get her spayed ASAP.
