I recued my kitty and a few weeks later realize she Is preggers. We had what I thought was a successful delivery last saturday. Friday night came home from work and noticed she hadn't eaten. got up yesterday morning I noticed she was constantly in litter box. thought she was possible constipated or had aA UTI and noticed her bottom was all wet I lifted her tail and she growled and hissed at me. So took a trip to the vet we took. I'm so grateful we did because she had a kitten in birth canal stillborn and another in uterus. They did an emergency spay and shes home Now. My question is the kittens that she delivered are wanting to nurse and she immediately went and got them and is now under the bed. I'm really worried they are going to hurt her incision...it's only been 24vhrs...any,advice is greatly appreciated!!

She will be able to nurse them fine. Their age is why, now if they were 3-4 weeks or more, it would be hard on her because of the teeth and how much bigger and rough they would be on her.

But 9 days, she will do fine :)

Comfort her, calm room and quiet with the least amt of activity as possible is what helps her recover well.

I know you're concerned but she will be okay, really :)

I'mhopefully overreacting or hope so anyway-mama kitty had to have an emergency spay on saturday and came home last night. I had to supplement feed when she was away...she immediately starter nursing again when she got home. I just want to make sure that a she is producing enough milk to feed the kittens. They're not crying and seem content when I pick them up. I bought scales today to make sure they're not losing any weight. Are there any signs to look for if theyre aren't eating enough?

Yes, I was going to say, holy moly, no way!! Super baby!!

It will help if you place a bowl on the scale, zero/tare it out to say zero again and gently place baby in the bowl.

Helps to have a scale that weighs grams too as they are nice and sensitive and pick up tiny amts.

Is the scale balance? I find if one foot not touching the table or not balance it tends to be inaccurate

I suggest returning the scale and getting different one, preferably one weighs in grams

Its most probable they get enough.    (I suppose they arent very weak and letharigic?).   If they are otherwise big, feisty, moveable etc, so they get enough.

but the easiest way to to weigh them.  If you dont have their starting points, begin weihg asap, so you do get something to compare with asap too...

A 9 day kitten being one Lb, ie 450 grammes?  Theoretically its possible, a really big feisty kitten, adding brave 25-30 grams a day (ie a full Oz every day).  But its barely possible,  The next step on the probability is you see shadows of witches flying around, perhaps even a glimpse of a dragon if you are lucky.

But the more probable is its some fault with the weigh.  OR they are older than 9 days.

Good luck!
