My old kitty crossed the rainbow bridge this morning. She was not quite 17, young for a cat in my home. But still a lot of memories. Found her at the playground when my daughter was two. She took over the household, bossing everyone around. Her favorite times were when I was in the kitchen cooking, to get tastes, and to sit on my lap when I settled on the couch. She went to bed with me and woke up with me daily, until last week when Kitty Kitty moved her litter into my bedroom. This did not suit my old kitty at all! She never came in again until this morning, with her sadly labored breathing, to tell me it was time. With a heavy heart, I was at the vet's door before they opened today. It was a smooth trip over the bridge. She was down to five pounds, and had stopped eating and drinking two days ago. I sat up with her until 2am last night, and went to bed very sad. She was cancerous, and lungs filled with fluid, so the end was near. I miss my old kitty. We had many memories together, but I am grateful to have the stray Kitty Kitty and her four rambunctious kittens in my life today. A new era will start. I shall cherish the memories my "boss" cat and I shared.

Aww, so sorry.....

How terribly sad for your loss hun.

As hard as it always is, it's something we just can't prevent, but knowing you gave her a good life filled with your love, and she didn't have a traumatic ending, that's something to feel grateful for, at least eventually.

Hugs.

My condolences. Seventeen years is a long time and means lots of memories, so her absence must be felt acutely.

It's so hard to accept the loss to our homes and our hearts, especially after that sweet presense for 17 years. She depended on you to know when her suffering became too much, and even though it broke your heart, you were there at the end to ease her way to the rainbow Bridge. My heart goes out to you, I know the pain of losing a bossy little girl, the hole in your heart takes a long time to heal. The heavens gained a beautiful angel with her passing, RIP sweet 'boss' cat, know you were loved and cherished!

I know how you feel, I lost my dear dog recently. It is ok to take a day to cry, I did. I still look at his dish and remember him fondly! I wish you happy memories![emoji]128062[/emoji][emoji]10084[/emoji]️[emoji]128062[/emoji][emoji]10084[/emoji]️

I'm so sorry for your loss, my thoughts and prayers go out to you during this difficult time. I hope I can experience having a furbaby for 17 years or longer.

Warm hugs.

Dear @sarthur2  , I have only just seen this post and am so sorry to hear of your loss - and yet you still contribute to others' posts, which is probably very hard to do while you're grieving.

To have a cat for that long (about the same time I had my last one, and two previous ones) is wonderful, but makes the inevitable parting so much harder.  Your much-loved kitty was in the right place at that playground 17 years ago to have the life she has led with you.

Sharing in your grief as I wipe away my tears. Big hugs.

I'm so sorry for your loss.  I had a mental image of you finding her at the playground and it was so sweet.  Please pass along my sympathy to your daughter, as well.
