Need some advice.  I have a 1 yr-old stray who adopted me. I believe she is a Bengal due to her markings, chatting, and other characteristics. She is 10 lbs.

Back in Oct. when I took her to the vet due to swollen tummy/aggressivness - she ate part of a gecko - the vet said that she was fat and put her on a diet.  He said that she had some fat in her liver, but it was nothing to be concerned about.  He said to give her 1/2 cup of diet dry food and 2 pouches (85g each) of moist food per day.  She was on this diet with no problems until the last week of March, when she began to eat only 1/2 or 3/4 of her food. Due to the prior issue with fat in the liver and reading up on this (thanks to all of your posts about this!), I took her into the vet again.

The problem is that Houdini hates the vet and turned into ninjacat. She hissed, growled, yowled and swat at him (this is normal) and he gave her a light sedative and wrapped her burrito-style in a small blanket. She was so stressed out that he didn't want to aggravate the situation and he felt her ribs/body under the blanket.  He said that he didn't feel her ribs and that she was ok. I told him that her neckbone and sternum were much more visible/i could feel them a lot more than I have before and I was concerned about this.  He said she was growing and her body was filling out.

She is still eating 1/2 to 3/4 of the food. She plays and runs around a lot. Still eats grass and bugs in the yard.

Has anyone's cat's neckbone looked like this? Is this indeed normal or should I be concerned?  Thanks!

When did this lump appear? Has the vet seen it?  It does not appear to be normal to me.

Maybe since Houdini hates going to the Vet so bad, you could at least send some pictures to the Vet, or maybe even a video and get their take on it? I know it's not quite the same, but they could then get some idea of what your seeing, and determine whether or not he needs further examination.  Then, if needbe, perhaps they could give you a sedative to give him before you take him in.

Hello all! I called the vet and suggested to send video/pics and she said that when she examined Houdini, she didn't feel any lumps, but that this was the cat's shoulder blades. She said to weigh the cat and if she had lost weight, I should call her.

I took Houdini to the nearest big pet shop (like a Petsmart) and had another vet check her out & weigh her. Houdini is still about 10 lbs and the vet said that there weren't any lumps on Houdini's shoulder blades. I showed her videos and she noticed that this only sticks out when Hou is sitting a certain way. She said it is normal for cat's shoulder blades to stick out. There were no other problems with Houdini either.

So, go figure. Cannot wait til I am back in the US and can take her to a good vet. :)

Thanks everyone for the help and concern!

Well, I, myself wondered if it might just be the position she was in, because shoulder blades CAN stick out depending on their position...that's why I suggested sending pictures and/or videos for them to look at to see if they thought there was an issue.  So how was Houdini with the 2nd Vet?  Better?  I thought that was the problem, that she didn't "behave" and couldn't get an exam done
