Doom my 4 month old kitten is becoming a real terror, climbing the inside window screen and i want to stop him doing it before he tears a hole. Mum suggested using a spray bottle of water to squirt him when he does it but i think thats kinda nasty..he hates water i will feel bad lol..but i will if i cant find a solution. Do you think im being too soft???

Spray away....  I have pet screen so when moths or other insects get to teasing, kitty will want to play.

I use water and it helps but sometimes distracting them with a laser has helped me, good luck with Doom

ty for your advice.I will try and get  a laser cos i feel bad spraying him with water, could be just im too soft to do it but he seems extremely determined and after a while i dont think even getting wet will deter him so i would prefer to positively distract him than wet him because he hates water

You could try spraying the screen with a scent that puts him off. Most cats hate citrus scents. Maybe get some lemon essential oil (like you'd use for aromatherapy) and put some in a spray bottle with water - 1 drop oil per 10ml water. Spray the screens with it, and be sure to shake well before each use.

You could put some latticework up inside the screen, i.e., cut a cheap plastic or wire trellis to size. When our last cat was a small kitten and climbing the screen in our kitchen window, I temporarily taped an oven rack over the screen.
