Hello, I'm hoping to get a quick response with assurance of finding some possibilities. I have a cat approx. 8 months old. We just started letting them outside around 6 months old. We heard the mating cry one evening and marked it on the calendar. If this was her first mate, we expected the kittens to be born around may 5th 2015. Today we noticed an aborted kitten. Hairless, probably about 5 -6 week fetus. ( not sure, haven't researched what one looks like at that stage). We can not find her. We don't know if she lost all, stopped labor, has had premature kittens or if she is even OK. We searched the outside perimeter of our property, thinking she would have gone to a safe place away from our dogs and other cat. They all get along very good. I assumed , ITV would be motherly instinct. What I need help with and some added advise, is there a certain characteristic place she will go to
To have the rest. ? Will she abort others randomly as they come? Is there a way to draw her to us or will she cry out if she hears our voice? Is this something we wait for? Is there anything we can do? She is very close to us , so I'm sure she would sense and know we are safe and able to help her. This is her first litter.

I think the others will be fine and will come out when ready, does she seems to be in distressed?

Edit: i miss the part you can't find her, it possible she may have went and have the others. I don't know your cat so i don't know if she will come out if she does hears your voice, use a calm voice when calling, or a voice that she knows and associate positve things to the voice

Difficult situation, not the common, so there are no real answers.   And we cant know as yet what exactly happened.

My guess is she is hiding in some hole,  Hopefully she didnt panicked ran away, but is hiding nearby, perhaps even inside your home.   If you deem she is best friends with you alike she is good friends with the other dogs and cats, she is hopefully at home hiding.

They can hide anywhere, say under a sofa, up inside the pillows, coming in from downwards and backwards, so to say... They can dig in in such places, and hide.

If you suspect or know she is more an outside cat, or not relying on you, its quite possible she hides somewhere outside.

She may abort the rest in there, but with some luck, she may perhaps keep the others inside, and they will be delivered in their proper time.  You dont tell there was a lot of blood, so she apparently isnt bleeding heavily in any case.   And thus, there is good hope for her life and surviving.

Lets hope for the best.

Observe, in this time there is probably none mothernity instincts, she is too young, and its too early for the hormone niveu to get into their peak.

Here ist a pure question of fighting for survival when coming in a situation of being scared, and prob even total panic....

Do as MWallace suggests.  Seek ouk, with calm, friendly voices.   Have enticing smelly food everywhere...   Hear after small meows...

Inside, but also around in the neigbourhood.   Patrull at dusk when its quaiet down, and you do hear each other.

And pardon me for saying that already now.

I can possibly understand you wanted her to have a litter.  You arent the first nor the last.  But I cant really understand you choose to let her have her a litter at the very early age of 6 months...   Its dangerous by itself, both the mating by some rough dominating tom happening to be nearby, and letting her deliver at this young age.

Lets hope everything turns all right.

Please come with reports and further questions!

Good luck!
