Hi,

This is Tony and Kat Wynne-Roberts

During the time that we have had our feral cats, there is one thing we found to be very important---

Always give your cats attention when they ask for it----we always feel priviledged that our cats

show us love and never ignore them if they want attention<

All the best

So true.  We have one cat who approaches us maybe once a month.  I never refuse to pet her when she wants attention.  If I didn't I wouldn't get to pet her for a month - she walks away when we approach her.  Yet, she's the one who sleeps at our feet every night.

I feel terrible when I have bad flares. It's all I can do to feed them some days. And Kira begs for attention. Her cries are so heartbreaking. She doesn't eat as well if I don't spend enough time with her.

But now that the weather is turning warmer, I should be able to sit outside in a chair with them. They clearly are not content to merely have a meal delivered.

Honestly, Kira's desire to keep me outside is what made her brave enough to touch me. I would often reach my hand out to see if she'd let me pet her, and one day, as I was gonna head in after an hour in the garage with her, she headbutted my hand so hard! She startled herself a little.

Needless to say, I stayed outside till I was shaking from the cold and pain. And she ate a lot of treats that night. :-)

astrael astrael :hugs: I know what it's like to have bad days and struggle to give the cats the attention they so desperately want. I'm sure they can tell if you're not good, and I'm equally sure they understand.

It sounds like you're doing fantastically - particularly with Kira. She clearly adores you. It's so great that she has someone like you to lookout for her.

I know it's hard (and I'm the worst at practicing what I preach), but just accept the bad days. The cats do get it. All you can do is your best. You're there for them every day, and they always have food, shelter and water. That's what counts - and they know it. Kira's growing trust in you is testament to that.

Hi

Hi

Thank you so much for sharing you experiences

Our ex-feral Muse now has the habit of waiting at the door as I leave for work,

She meaows and the jumps onto our bed and looks back at me--

Of course I have to go and stroke her(which results in purrs) and then I have to arrange the pillows so she has little nooks and crannys to investigate---

They are truly amazing little creatures
