I got a Bengal kitten on March 24. What a ball of energy!  She is the sweetest little thing. This past Monday, Apr. 13th, she had her second 3 -in-1 vaccination and she was wormed. Today is Friday and her appetite is non-existent. I am so worried because she is just a little thing. She was ravenous before this..now she won't even nibble on wet food. She threw up bile a few times, as well. And her activity level has dropped. I thought this would be only for 2 or 3 days. Is this normal? Should I bring her back to the vet?  thanks for any help you can give me.

This is definitely not normal and at an absolute minimum I'd call your vet and explain what's going on and ask if you need to bring her in but I think their answer will almost surely be yes.  After vaccines some cats are somewhat lethargic for around 24 hours, but if I am understanding you right yours has barely eaten or moved for 3 days and also did not react poorly to the previous vaccine.  Please do call your vet and get her in.  Let us know how it goes.

Vibes
to you and your kitty, I so hope whatever it is is easy to deal with and she will be all right.

I would get to vet...

-

I have had kitties get like this... One was treated like it had Meningitis and within 5-8 hours I noticed a slight improvement... 3-5 days later at about 90 percent...

-

a/d critical care cat food can be syringed and water syringed 2-3 ml of water twice a day.  Those water humps to help with hydration and keeping weight up... , But too much time (3 days)...

-

A Vet thought a possible cause of the Meningitis was from licking the sinks & tub drains (moldy substance and or bottom of window condensation..)

-

Either way, A VET VISIT........... will be thinking of you and your kitty..

Ok, I called the vet and if she sees the need to see her I will bring her when I get home from work. Let me add...she is not her usual crazy self, but she is playing with my other cat and moving around. She just nibbles a little at her food and then refuses it (she would always gobble it down!) I did read that this type of reaction is not abnormal after de-worming and vaccinations. But I will bring her. Thank you.

Ok, I took her to the vet today. The vet seems to think it's a delayed reaction from the vaccination on Monday. Her temp was normal and she was alert and active. The vet does not seem to think it's an obstruction. She was given a cerenia injection for nausea. When I got home, she gagged again upon smelling her food, wouldn't eat, and has been sleeping ever since. She did drink some water, though.  I have to update the vet tomorrow.  I am so upset.  Please say a prayer for my little girl. Thank you.

How's your baby..?   It's Good to see a caring parent.

Are you able to use a needle free syringe for water...   I have marked levels on water dish so I know roughly what they lick up on their own.  Praying you, have good news for the Vet and us...

Hi, caring people....I am SO happy to have found this site!  When I got home from the vet on Friday, Sheena slept most of the hours after. The vet had given her an injection of cerenia for the nausea. Boy, that shot cost $40 and did not do much at all. It was very painful, as well. She jumped vertically in the air and hit the tech in the head. My poor baby. I don't recommend that shot  for anyone. She was still gagging the following day. She vomited in the morning on Saturday, and by the time I got home on Saturday night, she had diarrhea like water. She was nibbling very little on dry kibble and sleeping most of the time. I called the vet who told me to bring her in first thing Sunday morning and she would most likely have to have I.V. fluids. I called the breeder and he told me not to do it. He said the stress alone would kill her. He told me to say a prayer to Jesus (pls don't make fun of me) to heal her. I did. I'm telling you, within 15 minutes after I prayed, she started to eat her kibble. She went back to her dish 4 times within 2 hours! And she was drinking lots of water from her fountain.  I did not bring her to the vet on Sunday. She's been eating like crazy, wet and dry food. Her behavior is back to normal. The only lasting symptom is that her stool is loose - the consistency of mustard. But since it's only Monday, it's only been 48 hours since the onset of the watery diarrhea, so I guess it's normal and should harden up within a couple of days, right? The breeder said that the stomach upset could have been because I was slowly transitioning her over to Earthborn Holistic Primitive Feline cat food. She had been weaned onto Purina One Smart Blend Tuna & Salmon and I wanted to get her onto something healthier. I put her back on the Purina for now. So I'm not sure if it was the vaccination and de-wormer or the food change. I'm just glad she's feeling better. I was real scared there.  Thank you all for caring.     Patti

It may have just been a little too much for her to handle all at once. Some cats handle vaccinations better than others; my cat was lethargic and her appetite gone for about 3 days and she barely ate anything for 2 days. Kittens can be sensitive to dewormer. I'm glad that she is doing better. That cerenia shot sounded awful! Praying is great, and it helps you not feel so helpless in a situation! However, I'm not sure the breeder made the right call. Cats can go downhill very quick when not eating, they can get very dehydrated and a certain liver condition. It would have been highly stressful for your kitty, but sometimes in a dire situation, you need to make that call. I really hope she continues to improve, and I will say a little prayer for your kitty to have speedy recovery!

How many days your cat started not eating?Loss of appetite may be the sudden reaction after the recent vaccination. Change in routine can also be one among the reason of loss of appetite. The anxiety or depression could be the reason your cat won't eat. Identify the reason by consulting a vet and do as that....

She was vaccinated Monday and stopped eating on Wed. Diarrhea on Sat. She's almost 100% better today. Thank you, everyone.
