I have a male cat, Castiel, that is just about two years old.  He has just started peeing blood around the house the past two days.  It is very small amounts, sometimes only just a drop or two.  He is still eating and drinking, he is not throwing up, he is still playing with my other cats.  If he was not peeing blood I would say he is perfectly fine.   I do have two other cats, one male and one female, but they all get along very well and are best friends.

I have been to my vet already and he is on an anti-biotic as well as he got an anti-inflamatory shot.  I am just super nervous about him and I want to know what is wrong with him so that I can help him.

Just over a year ago I lost one of my other cats to a blockage that leg to a fatty liver and I want to do anything and everything to prevent my boy from getting sicker so if you have any ideas or suggestions that I can do here to help him out I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you very much for taking the time to help me and to ease my mind.

Sincerely,

Alex

What diagnosis did your vet give you?  When my cat started to urinate blood, it was an UTI and the antibiotic the vet gave her did help. She's still being treated and it is taking awhile for the blood to go away, but it is definitely clearing up.   It took a few days before I noticed any improvement though.   That delay might be because I am having a hard time getting the meds into her.

I'd keep a sharp eye on any changes in urination, specifically a sudden reduction or breaking of litter box habits.   If his output starts to decrease, I'd call the vet and see if you need to take him in.

I'm sorry about your other kitty.

The most likely thing as said by others is a UTI.   Did you get that diagnosis?

I'm going through this right now with my 2-year-old semi-feral named Binx.  The vet diagnosed him with cystitis and treated him with antibiotic and anti-inflammatory injections.  He was fine for almost two weeks.  Then we had thunderstorms these last few days, which terrified Binx and triggered his stress.  Unfortunately, he's having problems again.  I'm hoping to hear what advice others have.  I know wet food is best, but Binx is a picky eater.  He refuses to eat his wet food 90% of the time.  The vet recommended a feline pheromone spray to reduce stress, but it's not working.  Maybe I need to give it more time?  I do notice that he relaxes a little when I sprinkle catnip around the house, though.  Another thing the vet recommended was adding tuna juice or chicken broth to his water bowl to encourage him to drink more water.  Binx is too picky for that idea, but maybe it will help your cat.  I had success treating another cat by crushing 500mg of glucosamine HCl and mixing it in his prescription canned food once a day...I recommend asking your vet before adding glucosamine to your cat's diet.
