My cat was spayed about 10 days or so ago. The incision is open from her licking it. I cant afford to take her back to the vet. Will it heal on its own?

This should be covered with the fee you paid to get her spayed. Call the vet and ask for advice, this should be a follow-up. Didn't she wear a big collar so that she could not lick it? I know cats and dogs don't like them and it looks as if they are not able to eat, drink or sleep comfortably but they will.

Like segelkatt said- the vet should be able to take care of it without an extra charge... as long as you followed all post operation directions. If they sent you home with a cone collar and you did not use it, then you may be responsible for paying for anything extra that might need to be done.  (mine came home without any special collars, but they were really small incisions)

Without seeing the incision I can't say if it will heal on its own or not... better to have it checked out now even if it will cost you a little money because if it doesn't heal on its own it will end up being more expensive than just taking your cat in now.

If you really can't afford it ask if the vet if have payment plans... or ask a friend or family member to float you a small loan. Getting it taken care of now is way cheaper then waiting for it to get worse. Good luck!

Male or Female..?

-

I personally have used Triple Antibiotic + Pain Relief on two males that had just a small pouch like burst (half the size of a pencil eraser head).  Lightly dabbed morning and night for a week and its all better here two months later.  A local Vet suggested this...

As for females, that is by lower tummy and should be taken care of by a Vet.

Don't be afraid to be persistent with who's paying what... Good luck
