I have a feral cat that I care for he is fixed. But he went missing for a few days then showed up today with his nose caked with blood, puss, and dirt. He couldn't get any air and looked bad. He has never let me touch him before but had no problem with me holding him and cleaning his nose out good.  I can't find anything wrong. Just the puss that is still coming out his nose. Almost like a runny nose. I've never seen or heard of anything like this before. Can cats get nose bleeds? Because that's what it looks like.. the vet is closed until tomorrow .

They surely can, but its less common then with humans.  Much less.

Here its although something else, not any common nose bleeding, its surely a vet errand.

Perhaps luck in one way, as NOW he is letting you help him.  Because he is sick and he knows it, he lets you help him.  The Window of easy fostering is open once again.

If he does survive this (which I hope, it doesnt sound as too serious) - he will be easy socialized.

It may take astonisinghly short time, in such situations.

Good luck!

ps.  Im optimistic, but he surely feels not well, and feels clearly he is sick and in need of help, otherwise he wouldnt gladely accept your help, just for some minor problem.  The problem is serious, although I do hope not too serious.

Just spoke with the vet and she said she wants to see him right away.  she said it's unlikely a nose bleed out of nowhere. So I will be dropping him off on my way to work.

She wants to do an exam and blood work. She thinks he may have gotten in a car engine or a animal trap and hit his head getting out. At the very least he has a sinus infection from the blood blocking his nose.

My new problem is now he is feeling better and doesn't want to be messed with again.  I told the vet he was a stray I took in but this is the same vet who I tried to use for a cat I hand raised after her mother was killer in front of her at a day old. It didn't go will. Smokey was always mean I was the only person who could hold her. My husband and little girl could be in the same room but that's it. Some how Smokey got out and cut a worker really bad she needed12 stitches. After that no vet around the area would see her and she never got fixed.  Most times the vet just sells me the meds I need because I'm a nurse and have been working with animals longer than her.

So I'm scared about the outcome here.

He needs the blood work .

I will let y'all know what I find out

What is wrong with these people!!   They don't get to pick and choose the animals with 'good temperaments'..

Good luck with it all and do let us know how it goes..

Everything looks good, he has a very bad sinus infection but that's it. They gave him a shot to put him to sleep before they did anything so nothing went wrong, thank god. But she doesn't know if the sinus infection caused the nosebleed or the nosebleed caused the sinus infection. So he has to take medicine and we have to watch him closely. I don't know how he's going to like that. Lol I'm hopeful that he will learn to be handled more after this. His mom was a feral that showed up with a litter two years ago it was mths before she would let us handle her but her and the other four kittens were able to go to good homes. Just not him so we just joke he was happy here and let him have his way. We have a room off the outside of the house with a washer and that's his house I even bring his food and water in there for him. As long as I don't touch him I can be right next to him.  It's just his way and l dare say we love him for it. My husband says he is his own man.

That's lovely, that you respect him and care for him.. It will be interesting to hear how things develop.
