Please look for an owner right away. Not all pregnant cats that come up to you outside are homeless. Someone could be frantically looking for their cat. Was it in a residential area?

Good luck!

@sarthur2  I am looking for an owner for her. We live in the middle of nowhere. The only towns around us are small enough that you could walk through them all in one day. I know that she is not one of the neighbors because I know all of them.

did you talk to the neighbors? Maybe one of them got a cat and they havent told you yet. But yet again i would think if one of them did lost a cat, they would have ask you if you saw one

I did talk to them. I thought that even if they didn't own her then they might now who does, but everyone said that they do not know who she might belong to.

I hope that I can give her the best home for now. I will still be looking for her owners though. She has milk, a lot of milk. All of her nipples are full of it, and it looks like she has been nursing something as some of her nipples have that reddish stuff that baby kitty had after the boys got teeth. Is it possible for her to have a litter somewhere? if so I do not think they would be alive. She has been with me for more than hours and it reached below freezing last night.

Healthy kittens can survive surprising long on their own.  We had two somewhat similiar cases of unclear situation, the kittens got found about 24 hours later, and both litters survived  although it was rather chilly weather, if I understood the reports correctly.  I presume some may perished, but the rescuer found  litters, so some of them survived each time.

If you notice she is nervous and wants out, let her, she may seek them out, she perhaps just wanted to feed herself thoroughly.

If so she  will almost surely return to get more.

But if she got dumped, so surely also the kittens got dumped.  Lets hope it was in some merciful way.

There are nasty types out there, even here in Sweden - although we are supposed to be an animal loving peple, and also overall decent people...

God, have mercy on us all.  Because we are sinners...

So I am confused here. Perhaps you are too. Your thread began by saying you found a very pregnant cat. Now you are suggesting you think she is/was nursing a litter. There's an important distinction here. If she has a litter out there somewhere that she needs to feed, then we have a different situation on our hands.

Which do you honestly think it is?

Does she ask to go out? Maybe to go feed her kittens who may survive the weather?

Or do you think they are "missing" and she is all that is left?

Like StefanZ said, she may have needed to eat in order to nurse. Maybe you should see if she wants to go out, and follow her to see where she might go. Even though it looks as though she has been nursed by kittens with baby teeth, those kittens may only be 4 or 5 weeks old.

Let's see if we can sort this out a bit more. Let us know what you think is happening here. We need to make an effort for the sake of possible kittens. If they are out there, mama will surely return to them soon. Even if the whole family got "dumped". Why people think dumping pets in rural areas solves the problem is a mystery to me. Please respond soon. Thank you! :)

@StefanZ  I have left the door open multiple times but she doesn't go outside. She doesn't act anxious and she rarely meows. I was curious to know though if it was possible for her to be about to give birth AND to have a litter that is still nursing. I know a female cat can get pregnant again after she gives birth but Wouldn't the queen wean the litter that was nursing? Maybe her milk just has not dried up yet.

@sarthur2  I said she has a lot of milk. And I mean a lot. It is more than just oh I am pregnant and a leaking a milky substance. Most if not all of her nipples are heavy with milk. That is why I asked if it was possible for her to have a litter AND be pregnant. She has not acted anxious or even tried to get out since I found her.

Last night she kept waking me up so that I could pet her. I laid in bed for 20 minuets this morning petting her because she kept sitting on my chest. I felt a baby moving. It felt like it was moving down. It wasn't like a quick thing that was there and then gone. It was a continuing thing. It felt like after baby kitty gave birth to her first three and then later on we felt the last baby moving into postion. I have looked but have not found any babies.

OK, so if she had a litter, they werent dumpet together with her, as she isnt even trying to seek them.

To your question.  They arent protected by lactacing, so its not sure they try to wean the old litter before they mate anew.    Some avoid toms, true, but some happily accept.

It is however possible to have two different litters simultaneously.  Not the usual, but not unique either.   They are typically born 3 weeks apart, and with any luck, both healhy.

One of my neigbours has a cat from such a second litter.  Kittens from the first were "disposed of" as is common among farmers, but when the second litter come, the farmer understood it was something unusual, and let them live, and sought after homes to them instead of disposing as usual.

Okay, she is being lovey-dovey because she is expecting. Nipples full of milk does sound as though she had a previous litter. She likely got dropped off minus her litter for whatever reason. Probably because she's pregnant again. If she's not anxious to go out then there are no babies out there. You now have a pregnant mom and soon she will have kittens. She is grateful you have taken her in and hopefully you will feed her well and spay and keep her after the kittens are weaned. Lucky kitty to have found you! :)

She has given birth to four healthy kittens so far. She started a bit ago. I am going to bed and will see if we have anymore in the morning. I will also upload pictures tomorrow.

So the kittens have fleas. How old do they have to be until they have their first bath? I am going to bathe them in dawn dish soap as soon as they can regulate their own temp. Also picture time!!

Congratulations! I am trying to count the kittens. Is it 6 now? These are fabulous pictures. Thank you! Are they all latching on and nursing? You must make sure they are all getting enough mama milk. They must all eat and gain weight daily now. Please give an update on condition so we can further advise!

Would be best to weigh them with a gram scale daily and record weights to make sure. I will call out our experts.

PS: fleas are dangerous on newborns because they can quickly suck the blood & life out of kittens . But if you bathe them in Dawn, you must be very careful. They cannot be wet and cold for long at this age. How bad are the fleas? I am asking for more expert advice here. Do nothing until we hear back.

I suggest Getting a bowl of warm water, add drop of dishwashing(dawn) liquid and Get a very small, fine-tooth comb or a flea comb and gently run the comb over the baby, picking up the fleas in the teeth of the comb. Dip the comb in the soapy water and then thoroughly dry the comb before putting back to the baby.
