Yesterday I got a call from my brother saying he heard a cat fight upstairs and that when he came to the living room, he saw that a stray cat had gotten into the house and was fleeing as he arrived.

I rushed upstairs and found 1 kitten nonchalantly roaming around the room; 2 kittens were in their nest, with one very very  scared kitten hissing and growling in what seemed to me he was protecting his sibling.

I left the hissing kitten alone with his sibling so he could calm down on his own. I hope I did the right thing.

I noticed the 4th one was missing and searched everywhere and couldn't find him. I started getting a panic attack since I thought the stray might have taken him. When my brother finally found him behind some tools my dad had stored. I picked him up and he seemed fine and I started calming down, but upon closer look his eyeline (not his eye) had a small scratch and after he started walking he had a limp. He was shaking so much while I rested him on my legs.

As for the hurt kitten that was trembling, could it be he was frightened as well since he was a little hurt or was he also picking up on my panic attack?  After I confirmed he was better, I left them all to get some rest.

I thank any insight as to what I could have done better to calm them and make them feel safe.

Re the hurted kittens.  His shaking is probably because it become attacked physically and got hurt.  Its a real chock.   Your in panic didnt helped, but I dont think it was the main cause.  If it is female kitten, and the stray a tom, he may also mounted her.  And apparently he wasnt courting, he took himself what he was able to get.

ps.  Wait, I see you write him - so it was a male kitten?  OK, still he could have been mounted, or at least tried to be mounted.

OK, so if you want to play it safe, yes,  go and visit  your vet with this kitten.  It may even be necessary.

Can you by any  possibility get Dr Bachs Rescue Remedy?   Give it to the most  stressed kittens.  Hey, you can take it yourself.  These remedies were from beginning made for humans, although nowadays they are mostly renowned by cat people.

Yes, it was proper to leave the stressed kittens alone, to let them calm down.

Im not sure about the situation as a whole.  The ktitens are orphans or do they have their mom with them?

How old are they?

That cat fight was thus between the stray and the kittens, or did he fought with the mom?

Do you know how it come any stray come into the house, and what for??   Wanted he steal the food?   Mate the mom, mate the girls?

THIS here situation isnt the common....

Good luck!

Can you take the hurt kitten to a vet?
I couldn't take him because it was very late at night. When I return home today I'll see if he's still limping an take him to the vet.

There are 3 boys and a girl.  A boy and a girl look very much the same except for the tail being crooked on the girl. I didn't take notice if the nonchalant kitten or the protected (by the hissing boy kitten) kitten were the girl since I was looking for the missing boy kitten. The hurt kitten is a boy.

I will try to find the remedy, but I've never seen anything close to it on any pet store shelves in my country.

The kittens are with their mom.  They were 32 days old yesterday. I think the fight was with mom since my brother say he heard a "cat fight" rather than that the "kittens were attacked" and when I arrived she wasn't there with the babies. Maybe the babies got hurt when fleeing, they are sooo small, I would think that if the intruder tried to hurt them they would have gotten a lot more damage. I think she chased him out and knew they would be ok with my brother. When I saw the babies were better, I called her a while and when she didn't come I saw that she was like "standing guard" outside below the window.

The stray came in through the window, since we leave it open for mom to go outside. She's a stray I've been feeding for a while and she really trusts us. I think he came in to steal the dry food I left for the mom though now that you mention it, I hope he didn't try to mate with the mom since I want to spay her as soon as the babies are completely weaned. I would also hope he didn't try to mate with the kitten since she's still very very small. The twins (boy and girl) were the ones that looked the least affected by all this ordeal.

Side note: You're really good at asking the right questions!

Please close the window so this does not happen again.

Thank goodness mama and babies are okay!
