Adorable! He is now 9 days old and really needs to put on weight. How much is he eating each feeding? I did read that you are upping the concentration of the formula now, so that should help. Very sweet looking!

Oh he's precious!! Poor little punkin off to a rough start in life, so glad he has you though!

He's got fluffy fur :)

Great to hear you are diluting the kmr 2/1, 1 part kmr-2 parts water.

This can only help things. He NEEDS to gain, constantly.

Hoping he is able to hang in there and grow!!

I just finished feeding him. He took 50ml of KMR in about 12 hours Sarthur2 Sarthur2 . I'm feeding him until satisfied, every 2 hours more or less.
I still haven't weighed him today, but he got yesterday afternoon to 120g = 4.23oz.
Thanks for the support :)

This seems as substanital improvement, both in weight, AND the amount of eating.   Its some sort of barrier broken thorough, 50 ml in 12 hours...  Twice the minimum number.   :)

hello catwoman707 catwoman707 ,
the kitten stopped pooping once again. it has been since saturday afternoon.
he is trying to, but the poop is apparently too hard. i have tried once again with suppositories but it isn't working. does he need an enema?

The suppository finally worked! i'm so relieved.

By the way. He still has been eating very well. His eyes started opening this morning.
He just weighed 150g/5.3oz
Thanks!

He's got a very nice weight going, you are clearly doing an excellent job!

I meant to say that kittens don't HAVE to poop daily, sometimes it's 1 1/2 days, even 2 days. Past 2-3 days and no poops is when I consider constipated and begin to take action with oil/enema.

So he's doing great!!

catwoman707 catwoman707 I need your HELP!

I'm really worried because the kitten stopped eating after the previously mentioned pooping. I took him to the vet and she told me the suppository might have irritated his bowels and that he was in pain, therefore not eating. She told me to wait until tonight to give him some mkr. But the kitten is still in pain and hasn't eaten almost nothing since 14 hours ago. I'm worried about dehydratation, but he is not accepting any KMR. :S

Okay 14 hours of not eating is way too long.

I hate to say this but vets just don't have the experience with new babies as they do older cats.

If he won't take a bottle, then you need to syringe feed. If you don't have a needle-less syringe use an eye dropper, but be VERY careful you only put one drop at a time in to the cheek area of the baby, and watch the breathing and swallowing carefully.

One drop inhaled will turn into pneumonia and he will die from it.

I don't relate it to the suppository either. It is purely glycerin, harmless. Unless you used an entire full sized suppository, which is too big of course.

You must get some KMR in to him, just be slow and calm and patient, know it's going to take longer than a bottle, but at just about 2 weeks old (tmrw) you don't want him to turn around and head downhill, and this age they are still fragile.

Work on getting about the same amt of KMR in to him as he was taking, watch his weight closely so you know if he is getting enough or not.

It's late here too so I need to go to bed, I hope you manage during the night now, and I will check in with you to see how things are going as soon as I possibly can.

Adding to Catwomans excellent post, is, if you want wait with the KMR but want prevent dehydration, its just to give water, or even better,  pedialyte.  Homemade one or bought.

Pedialyte is best, it contain among others glucose sugar or its equivalent, white caro syrup or similiar.  So a good pedialyte buys often time.

You do it exactly the same way as Catwoman suggest, with a small needleless syring or a dropper, in the corner of the mouth, etc.

Good luck!

Thanks catwoman707 catwoman707 and StefanZ StefanZ

He is in a pretty bad shape. He just threw up all the kmr. I'm giving him only pedialyte now and waiting for another vet to arrive in about an hour.

I hope he makes it

Thank you Sarthur2 Sarthur2 .

I've found a clinic specialized in cats, so I'm taking him there.

He vomited again :S

Hi everyone!
We brought the kitten to the cat clinic and he will stay there under observation until tomorrow. They were able to feed him with Royal Canin KMR and tested negative for a nasty virus (panco..something).

Thanks for the support!

Hi everyone, I've got sad news. The kitten died today :(
He had some digestive problems, it seems food wasn't passing from the stomach.
Thanks for all the help!
