What is the oldest cat you have ever had?

I think house cats live an average of about 15 years, but has anyone ever had a cat that lived well beyond that? My oldest cat ever lived to be 19. I am hoping that the two young kitties I have now will live longer than that. The others were 16 and 14 when they died.

I met a lady at the vet's office who told me that her cat was 23 years old. She had gotten the cat as a kitten when she (the lady) was seven years old, and she is thirty now. I'm not sure that I believe her.

The oldest I have had is my current 14 year old and he's still going strong! I have seen several relatives cats that were 20 and a little older, so it's not unheard of. The strangest I have personally seen is a dog of my uncle's, a Pomeranian that is now 23 years old!! She's had a few strokes and walks sideways, but still goes out to do her business and loves to be held. I wouldn't have believed it, but they have her registration papers so they can prove it!

BooBoo and Ms.Pepe are kittens from Whisper's last litter and they are now 19 years old and going strong. 

Twenty-two or twenty-three. Pirate was a Siamese we got when he was between one and two. One of my nieces has a 20-year-old DSH.
Last week somebody surrendered a 20-year-old cat to our shelter (she's now in a foster home).

Oldest cat living: Tiffany Two from California claims world record

Guinness World Records can today confirm Tiffany Two, a 26-year-old, short-haired black and orange tortoiseshell, is the new holder of oldest cat living record.

Born on March 13, 1988 in San Diego, California, Tiffany Two was bought by her owner Sharon Voorhees from a local pet shop when the record breaking kitty was six weeks old.

Oldest cat ever

The oldest cat ever is Creme Puff who was born on 3 August 1967 and lived until 6 August 2005 - an amazing 38 years and 3 days! Creme Puff lived with her owner, Jake Perry, in Austin, Texas, USA. Jake Perry was also the owner of Grandpa Rex Allen, the previous holder.

I don't have a source for this but my mom recently told me a lady in Hong Kong celebrated her cat's 28th birthday. I hope to be someone who gets to celebrate ANY cat's 28th birthday with a huge party and cat cake!

BJ was 13

Travis was about three months shy of 19 when we lost him.  

Sadly; 12.     That seems SO young when you hear about cats living to 20 an above.  

Growing up we had an indoor/outdoor cat (Misty) that was 2 months shy of 20 when we finally had to say good-bye to her. 

Muffin just turned 17 years old on March 23. Muffy, her daughter just turned 16 on March 30. They are the oldest cats I ever had. My other cats died at the ages of 5, 10, 11, 12 and 13 years.

I thought the average age for a cat to live was 16 years. I saw on a tv show a few weeks ago that the average age was 13 years. Does anybody know the correct average age?

A man I worked with said his cat lived to be 25 years old and lived on dry Friskies. I really did not believe him.

The oldest cat I had was Kuce and she lived to be about 19.5 years when she passed in 2012 from cancer.  She was going strong up until the last few days.

Rhe other 2 that passed were Sphinx (18 years from cancer) and Dancing Bear (17 years from diabetic complications).

Our current oldest is Luvbug and he'll be 15 in July and still going strong despite his asthma and heart murmur.

We have a neighbor who had a cat that lived to be 28 years old. She passed away late last year.

When I was a kid we had a cat who lived to be 15. Had she received vet care and been restricted to the house she would have seen 20, I am sure.

We had took in a barn kitten who lived to 25.  I was only a little over a year older than him when we had to help him cross.  It felt like a huge part of me left with him.

Lucy passed at age 15 1/2 (put down due to dental disease back in the late 80s)

Andy passed at 15 1/2  (killed by a bobcat on my front porch. Andy had kidney disease and was slowly dying from that when he was attacked and later put down)

my oldest kitty is 15.  she's also my little nurse-kitty.  on two occasions, she has helped me after surgery.  after oral surgery, she insisted on sleeping ON my head.  after abdominal surgery, she wanted to curl up on my tummy.  i dread losing her!

My grandparents cat is 17 years old. We found her outside my parents house and brought her 800 miles to Iowa were she has lived on the farm ever since. She mostly outdoors, comes on the basement if weather is bad.

Wow, you guys are giving me hope for my Zoe. She is 17.5 ... maybe I'll have her a lot longer than I thought!
