Hi,

My cat is allergic to fleas, but also seems to be too sensitive for the frontline. It made her fur fall out where it was applied. Is there a less potent, yet effective compromise that anyone might recommend?

Chances are that if frontline made her hair fall out because her skin is so sensitive, that advantage will do the same or similar.  Those both have fairly strong chemical pesticides.  So for a kitty with skin so sensitive, using something herbal with natural oils may work better.  Diatomaceous earth works really well to kill fleas.  This is mineral that is pretty inert (its often used in organic gardening for different purposes).  It comes in powder form for flea control that you rub into the fur.  To those tiny pesty bugs, it's like deadly fiberglass, but to you and your cat, harmless.  It is a mild eye irritant (as are all dusts) so just keep out of eyes. Its not technically and "preventative" but its an effective natural flea killer.

Richard's Organics is a natural brand that makes flea and tick prevention sprays, shampoo, and other products that I would recommend.  As long as your cat isn't allergic to any of the natural plant oils in the product, there should be no ill effect for you kitty.

Good luck, I hope this was helpful!

+ Please excuse all my misspellings, I'm new to the site and haven't figured out how to edit posts yet.  Haha.

Any possible way you could get the Adam's line of flea treatment? I've used the sprays on cats (heck I've used the shampoo but that's asking a bit much) with no ill effects, even on an asthmatic kitty. When I raised rabbits and guinea pigs, that line was my go to (make sure it's the ones that say safe for puppies and kittens if you use it on the small critters) and they are pretty sensitive to chemicals.
