Isabel bites if she is hungry.  I feed her wet.  Morning, lunch, after I get home from work, and at bedtime.   And I know she is getting enough because she doesn't always eat it all.

I don't have an issue with it so much except in the morning.   She gets up at 6:30 every day.  Earlier than my alarm.   She either bites me or bites and/or chews and grabs/attacts either me or blankets and tries tearing out a chunk.    I have holes in socks, pajamas, underwear.   I have tried ignoring her.  I pretend to be sleeping.   My first response.  I try pushing her away.  I try making myself into a cocoon with my covers tucked tight around me.  She always finds a way in.

I am at my wits end.   I just want to strangle her some mornings.  And of course I would not.

Do you have any ideas of what I can do?

The timed feeders is a good idea for the mornings.

You might have to do the unthinkable and shut the door at night... As painful as that is for us owners who spend the night with our kitties.

Ok.  Thinking.   Is her dish empty in the morning?  Not sure.   There are times when there is still food left over but not sure if over night is one of those times.

Tonight I will put extra from what i would normally give and see if there is still food left if she comes to pester me.

Sometimes cats don't like when wet food has been left out for too long. So even if its there, it's not "fresh".

Any way you can feed her a little later at night? Can or will she eat dry at all? If so can you put out just a lil bit of dry for her to nibble in during the night/early morning?

hmm.  I have never fed her dry.  She usually will start attempting to me to let me know she wants to eat at about 9:00 or so at night.   The biting.   Sometimes later.  Sometimes I don't feed her until 10:00.  And another thing she has started is wanting me to sit with her while she eats.  I have never fed her dry but I do give her 4 pieces of dry dog food with the dogs at night.  A treat.   So I know she will eat dry

HAHA, my cat Professor Socks does this to.  He starts out by sitting on me and taking his paw to my face, first nicely, and eventually one claw comes out, and then he keeps it up till he gets fed....everyday at 6 am....crazy cats.  If I close his door he just paws it until he can open it, luckily he cant open our new house doors, he's a genious!

I would definitely leave dry out for her at night so you can get some sleep! You can put it away during the day. Also will have to be put up high or somewhere where the dogs can't get it. There are some good quality dry food out there, just make sure meat is the first ingredient. Good luck!

I wouldnt have a problem with leaving dry out at night.  The dogs do not go into her room. I just don't want to get her started on dry and won't go back to wet.  I want her primarily on wet.  Now she eats mostly fiskies wet (morning, noon, after work and bedtime I do feed her 4  dry dog foodies at night .  Tonight I put a bit more at her nigh meal to se if her dish is empty in the morning bevore she comes to wake me up. I know sometimes even at lunch she wants to sit with her whyle she eats.

Could you put dry food or treats into one if those activity cubes? I've seen them made of soda bottles (small) with lid screwed down and a couple small holes cut into the sides.

Maybe that would be an option.  She doesn't eat dry food.  Except she gets 4 pieces of dog food when I put the dogs away for the night. She likes the treat.    I guess I worry that if I give her dry cat food that she won't want her wet food any more.

Hi! I read about your trouble..

Look.. My cat ate ONLY wetfood, from when he was a baby. He refused to eat dryfood. At some point I started him on dryfood, after vet's recommendations. He started eating dryfood and up until this day he eats both wet and dry.. Whenever I don't have wetfood (haven't gone to the store), he gladily eats dryfood. And vice versa.

I would suggest you to leave dryfood out only for the night time.. So your kitty has something to eat. Because, as you wrote (I hope I remember correctly) you feed her at 21:00. sometimes 22:00 and she wakes you up at 06:00.. That's a lot of hours for a cat without food. So, if she doesn't find anything else to eat, she will eat the dry one and MAYBE you can get a good morning's sleep

On the other hand, cats, do function like alarm clocks.. If she is used to wake you at 06:00 and you get up (after all the ordeal with the hiding and pretending to be asleep etc - I know, it's frustrating) to feed her, this is like an everyday routine for her.. So, even if she DOES eat the dryfood, she MIGHT still wake you up at 06:00, just to follow the routine.

So, for starters, I would leave the dryfood out, let her feed while you're asleep and you close your bedroom door. Yes, she will start meowing, begging, soundind sad, clawing on the door.. But it wil be much easier for you to "ignore" her, when she's out of the room and not into your sheets, biting you! If you keep this up for a few days, she'll get the message. This is you stating a change. I wouldn't worry about her getting used to dryfood over wetfood.. Dryfood is actually one meal in 24hrs.. Wetfood can remain her top choice, imo.

Good luck!

I feed mine wet food on the same schedule as you. I also leave dry out at night and it does not change the 0500 clawing under the blanket and nipping when that does not get me to get food. We are up at 0500 on weekdays, but they do not change their schedule on the weekends. I think the timed feeder with ice is a great idea.
