Hello, new to the forum, and had a question.

My family just adopted 2 bonded, 10 month old cats yesterday. They are awesome. Friendly, chill and very loving. The adoption place went over their medical records with me and disclosed everything. The orange/white cat had some conjunctivitis, which was treated with arythromycin and prednisone over a 7 day course, it looks like, which the last course was administered on 3/26, so pretty recently.

We noticed one of the cat's eyes (his right eye, on our left) is more closed than the other, but I can't actually tell what it is. I'm not sure if the conjunctivitis isn't completely gone or if the eye is still healing from the previous infection, or what. It does look a little swollen, but other times when his eyes are completely open, it looks normal, so I'm confused. It's had some "normal" looking discharge that dried and we've cleared away a few times. I took some pictures, the best I was able to get. These cats are part bengal, I'm pretty sure, and getting them to hold still for a picture is next to impossible, so sorry for the quality. I made an appointment with the vet tomorrow evening to get his eye looked at, but I wanted to see if I could get some 2 cents from people! Thank you so much in advance!

Welcome to THE CAT SITE!

Considering you say they don't like photos taken, I think you did fine. Certainly enough to show the reason for your question.  I suggest you find a way to take these to the vet visit with you; tablet, print them out, etc.  Almost guaranteed the eye will look FINE at the appointment and look like this 10 minutes after you leave, ha haaa.

I'd say the conjunctivitis is not completely gone in that eye and needs more meds.  Do you see the cat rubbing or pawing at the eye?  Rubbing it on furniture or the rug or floor?  Glad to read you already got the vet visit set up.

Conjunctivitis is usually herpesvirus, which does reoccur now and then, especially during times of change and stress.

The vet will give you eye ointment, but just an fyi-tube is small and if squeezed it keeps coming out, wasting ALOT!

So to prevent that from happening, since you will always want to keep some on hand, slightly squeeze some out on to a surface then cap quickly, which stops it from continuing to come out.

Then just swipe up with your finger and apply, this is also ideal for keeping the tube from getting contaminated :)

The older she gets, the less you will see this happening.
