I have 4 sweet indoor cats and 5 ferals living on the backyard patio.  They survived the winter by sleeping in my shed which is practically empty.  I just found this out a couple of weeks ago when my daughter said "Wonder what's out in the shed?"  We went out there and there wasn't much, a few scraps of carpet and some empty boxes, an old workbench, and a hole down low that the cats could easily fit through.  The shed, like the house, is on pier and beam.  Leaving the hole for now.  Had wondered why they wouldn't use the 2 shelters I bought on Amazon all winter.  Wondered why when I would call them to eat they would come leaping out of the vines along that side of the shed... Now I know!  The feral cats are named Petie and Miss Kitty, the parents, and the 3 kittens are Mo, Kelly, and Zuzu.

My indoor only cats are as follows:

Blondie, solid white, blue eyes, was a friendly stray.  That's her in my avatar.

Tess, solid black, amber eyes, county shelter, Blondie hissed a lot but now they are best friends.

Mommy. solid black, bright yellow eyes, a tamed feral with one kitten in tow.

Franco, Mommy's kitten, greyish/brownish with black spots and stripes, white front feet, white knee boots on back feet, white belly and throat, light brownish eyes.  He's complicated!  Whew!  Need to find my uploading thingy for pics, would be much easier.

Now more about Franco and Mommy.  Franco's parents were both solid black, feral.  Both had yellow eyes, but Mommy's are bright yellow.  Daddy cat had longish hair, Mommy is slick black and shiny.  Daddy cat stuck around until Franco was weened then he split.  Mommy spent weeks looking for him and smelling to see if his scent was around.  He was gone.  That's one reason I brought them both in when I did, Halloween, no time to waste.  Mommy kept wanting to go out and look for Daddy but after about 2 weeks of letting her out she quit wanting to, plus I just wouldn't allow it anymore.  She has not been into heat since I have know her, which is almost a year.  I wonder if older cats go into menopause?

Thanks for the Welcomes!  I will definitely write a story about all my ferals, get a badge too!
Blondie cat agrees.  I have a couple of four footed arrivals but they aren't cats.  One is the Racoon I raised out back last year.  The other one is a baby possum, body length about 8 inches long, more if you add his tail.  It loves cat food and must have proper teeth for munching.  I raised a baby possum last year too.  My backyard is like a mini Wild Kingdom.
