new ten year old cat!

hi, I have had a stray now for four months. she was starving and lived an hour away.

we did call one number from her chip and no one called back. so now she is ours and doesn't leave our yard. she is both in and out but missing lots of teeth.

I haven't had a cat in 20 years and wondering if there is a soft dry food out there like the old tender vittles? we give her canned but a variety is nice.

sometimes I feel guilty that I didn't try harder to contact the owner, but the vet said they hadn't paid their bills. since she won't leave our backyard, it makes me think she was dropped off.

I want to transfer the chip but not sure how. I also want a collar but read more negative than positive about it.

If you do decide on a collar, make sure it breakaway so if it does get caught it will come loose and fall off, have it tight but not too tight to them point it choking her but enough to prevent getting caught

thanks! what I can't understand is why they all have bells?
when I was young my cat's collar had a bell. I had his finger nails cut. we were
out of town for the weekend but my brother was looking after him. he was taken by coyotes. I will never forgive myself for leaving him alone or doing that. our other cat was fine. but now I think bells are bad for escaping prey and they certainly don't protect from birds,
contrary to popular belief.

Yeah, the bells actually makes them better hunters, you can probably remove the bells somehow

I have read that too! can I ask what u do for food? I want a mix of wet and dry but the dry is hard on her teeth
