Hi. I was wondering if anyone has ever caught a cat using a net of some sort. We have caught and rescued several cats however this one in particular is just not having it. We have been feeding him since around March of 2014. When I first saw Caesar I was shocked and heartbroken. He looked really really bad, had fur missing and was limping. He looked like he could barely move(except when we tried catching him) and was behind a bush but would get really aggressive if we got too close. We fed him daily and gave up trying to catch him, figuring we would just try and do what we could to make him comfortable and we didn't expect him to pull through. We made numerous attempts at catching him but had no luck . As the weeks went by he got stronger and his fur grew back all except a small patch by his ear. We've caught other cats there with traps and also by picking them up. Caesar has never let us touch him and I fear someone hurt him in an awful way or he got injured and his owner dumped him there knowing we feed there(the whole neighborhood knows this) or he was tossed outside when they saw his condition and he found his way there. His health started declining a couple of weeks ago and he has what appears to be an abscess on his face. We have cried many tears over him and I have vowed to do my best to catch him and take him to the vet.I think he was once an indoor pet and I don't want him to pass away on the streets. I would like to help him. I will be devastated if I do catch him and the vet says the time has come but I promised myself(and Caesar) that I will do what's right. I would like to have him cremated and keep his ashes. Caesar has been through alot and deserves to pass with someone by his side

Have you tried a drop trap?

Thank you so much for caring for him.  You are his angel.  He knows you are doing the best for him.

Also have you tried feeding him in the unset trap for awhile?  Start with the food outside of the trap and gradually move it inside.

I haven't set a drop trap but we have had the other humane traps on site many times to catch the others but he doesn't go near them. I will have to look into a drop trap.

I've caught cats with nets but they were all pretty tame.  I always ended up having to cut the net to get them in the carrier.

A drop trap will do the trick better.  Because the trap is up and the cat feels as if he can excape easily, they do work.

Thank you for helping him.  Sounds like he came to the right person!

I haven't seen Ceasar today :( but I'm going to keep going back through the night. It's only a few blocks away. I will have to get a drop trap or net today too. Right now I'm waiting on my friend to come pick up the mom a cat and her babies to take them to their foster home. Yeay they will be together and they will be the only pets there.

I think now my post will be moved elsewhere, not sure how to get that done. But I wanted to say that I caught Caesar a bit ago. He looked way worse, couldn't move much and we went straight to the vet and they are weighing him in another room.

Caesar is so lucky to have a friend like you. I so hope that this poor baby is going to be OK. I think that deep down, he knows that all you want to do is help him. He's a handsome boy.
to him that he'll be OK
