Does anyone have any experience with this food--good or bad? I have not been able to find very many reviews of it online. I came across it when I was browsing through the different options on chewy.com. The ingredients looked pretty good, but I don't like buying food that I don't know much about.

One of my very picky cats has decided for the umpteenth time that she is tired of her current canned foods again (I rotate three), so I am trying other options. She still likes her dry food, but the canned is a no-go. She used to love it. She gets tired of whatever canned food she is eating every few months, so I have to change it again.

So, back to Feline Caviar. I was considering the canned chicken and maybe the dry venison. She does well on and likes her Blue Basics dry, but BB is up to over 1,000 complaints on the consumer affairs website, so I might have to change soon. Any thoughts?

I wish that they did make the duck as a complete balanced meal, not just supplemental. I think I'll ask for a free sample of the chicken.

I am reconsidering the dry venison. It is only 28% protein. Most cat foods have at least 30%. I'm not sure why it is so low. There doesn't seem to be a lot of fillers.

Ok to use in a rotation with complete foods

I took a gamble and went ahead and ordered a case of the the canned chicken, pumpkin, and bean. I ordered a small bag of the dry chicken and salmon too, to use as treats or as a back up to their other dry food, if needed. So, we'll see how it goes! Chewy.com is good about giving refunds if a food does not work out. I have given a lot of unwanted food to the local shelter this way.

I wasn't sure about ordering the dry venison, since I have never fed them venison before.

Hi, this is my first time posting here. Feline Caviar was very highly recommended by the small store where I buy my food. I bough sample bags of the chicken, salmon and the venison. The difference is that the venison is formulated more for indoor cats. My cats ate both the chicken and venison, I haven't tried the salmon yet. As for the wet food, I bought the little plastic packages and they ate one of the tuna varieties okay, but didn't care too much for the chicken, cheese and papaya (I think that's what it was). I have 4 cats so it's kind of expensive for me to buy those little packages, so it's okay with me. I bought a couple of other varieties and will try them soon. It is supposed to be a really good food, though. Tonight I tried Wild Calling Trot n' Tommy and Hound and Gatos Chicken. They seem to really like the Wild Calling, but were lukewarm on the Hound and Gatos, but I will still try it again because it's reasonably priced and I've heard great things about it. My cats really love the Wellness Signature Select Chicken and Chicken liver variety, but it's kind of pricy and I've also been reading stuff about Wellness that I'm not crazy about, so I'm on a mission to find a healthy food that my cats will eat.

My cats won't touch the Wellness Signature Selects--too bad--I wish they would.

I wonder how the Feline Caviar venison is formulated for indoor cats. Is it lower in calories or something?

The Chicken/Salmon is higher in Calories 599 kcal/cup to 551 kcal/cup for the venison. The venison is also lower in protein - 28 % to 32 % for the chicken. The company is in Norco, CA.
