Sassy came in heat o Jan 26th I bred her with my mommas cat Sam. They were together for 10 days. Sam did manage to get Sassy a couple times. Sassy showed signs of being pregnant. Now I'm not sure. Does anyone have any advice. Thanks in advance. Tammy

Is her nipples pink or red? Does she look round? Can you post photos? Is there any changes in behavior? Like more affectionate?

We have a good collection of articles in the Cat Health section which you can access by scrolling up to the brown bar, clicking on Articles, and then choosing the Cat Health section and scrolling through the choices. To make this super easy for you, I am copying the links regarding birth, delivery and newborns for you here. After reading this information, let us know if you have any more questions. And good luck with your approaching new arrivals.

Finally please do consider getting your cat spayed. It is really not healthy or practical to mate cats unless you are a registered breeder.

Also as a general rule of thumb, if a cat mated while in heat, yes, she is pregnant. You could always consult with a vet to be sure or if you have any concerns though :)

I have been through everything on this site and I'm still confused... They say they are only in heat for 10 days and pregnant up to 67 days

And Sassy is a very clean cat so I can't even see if she has a discharge...I can't even pet her without her cleaning my hand the herself where I touched her

Can you pleased clarify what exactly you are confused about? Just whether she's pregnant? One sure way to find out would be to take her for a vet check up. Otherwise, the questions mwallace already asked are good guideposts. Is she larger than normal? Are her nipples pink and big? Can you see or feel babies moving? Why did you think she was pregnant and now what made you unsure?

A pregnancy may last a bit longer than 67 days without issue but if you think it has gone on much more than 70 you should also consult a vet to be sure things are okay.

It is highly likely she is pregnant. Her behaviour could be normal, yes... Cats basic personality often doesn't change much during pregnancy.

Giving or taking a few days, means you dont really have a clue...  So no real point to worry and call on the vet "because its becoming late"

Anyways, cats seems to manage a little too long pregnancy better than humans.  While the kittens manage badly to be delivered too early, again unlike humans and human babies.

So, if you do have a friendly, knowleable vet, consult him if you so want, but dont let him induce labor or make a cesarean without a really good cause - like moms life is in immediate danger.

Because, with humans, if in doubt, they do cesarean as a matter of fact.  While with cats, it saves the mom all right, but  if it is premature, its the doom for the kittens.

So, be observant, but take it easy, and wait calmly.   Remember also, your being anxious, goes onto your cat.   Up with your nose, as they say, and keep your lips stiff!    :)

Good luck!

I think everything you have described your cat doing is pretty normal behavior for pregnant cats...pictures definitely look pregnant to me.  Since everything so far is normal and your cat is not in any obvious distress I'm afraid you have no other recourse other than to wait and see.  Wouldn't worry until after day 70 or so.
