thank you everyone
she went into labor 4 hours ago and gave birth to 2 kittens with their placentas
since then she seems fine nursing and calm
am not sure yet if there are still kitten to come or not
kitten look fine suckling the nipples but a little bit weak and slow

I tend to beleive the first placenta was for an absorbed kitten

how can I be sure that she has no kitten or placentas left inside her and that she is done?
and how do I know if the babies are nursing correctly and are getting enough milk or not ?
Just as I suspected was coming. She had the placenta to push out so she could begin laboring and delivery of her babies, as her body was changing from basically pre-labor, which caused the placenta to come out first.

You can keep an eye on her watching for any distress but she is likely done.

As far as whether or not the babies are nursing well enough, they likely are, brand newborn babies are small and won't always have the suction power that comes in another week, or even days, the key is to be sure there is interest and eagerness to nurse rather than snuggling with mom, sucking for a minute or so and then sleeping. They should be more eager than that.

Weighing as mentioned by @StefanZ

is the best way to determine how they are doing, weighing daily with an ounce/gram scale that is accurate. They need to gain every single day without fail, except the first day as they often lose a bit.

Congrats! Glad things seem well, if you can post a pic of mom with babies that would be nice to see :)

Just checking in here, Judy. I am happy to hear that you have two seemingly healthy kittens thus far and hope that momma cat is alright too. Loads of vibes for the kittens to gain weight and thrive. :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

thank you very much all you have been of great help
well the kitten seem fine but the mom is a first timer this is her first litter she is passionate and caring but she is not cleaning them nor stimulating them to urinate defecate
so they seem to snuggle but not nurse until I wiped them with wet towel
but still weak they need their mother lick them
any ideas ? [emoji]128532[/emoji][emoji]128532[/emoji][emoji]128532[/emoji]

Yes - this seems to worry me a bit that momma cat is not instinctually licking them and cleaning them. I wonder if she knows something we do not??? OH - I hope not. Is momma cat eating, drinking and seemingly feeling like herself? I would think time is of the essence - each hour that passes - to making sure the kittens are thriving as they can go downhill extremely fast. Did you see the links posted above about how to get started on possibly hand-rearing the kittens?

I would also make a call to your vet and run these things past your vet or really just bring them all in. Maybe momma and kittens need to be seen??? I know you mentioned above in one post that the vets in your area don't have much experience but certainly they must have more knowledge, training and experience than most of us!!! I know if it were me, I would want that immediate back-up vet plan, just in case. We all care so much and we hope to hear a positive update later today. :cross: :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

oh what a long day I had
she finally started to get the idea and is observing me to get what to do
if I stimulate she does if I massage the pet the kitten she licks If she want to nurse she calls me to lay her pet her and line the kitten on her nipples
apparently she wants me to be the god mother and help with everything
they are stronger today with better suckling reflex and they gained weight
as I stimulate they mostly urinate but not defecate much hope this is OK

thats what I have for now will update frequently [emoji]128536[/emoji] thank you

Yes, it takes a couple/few days before you will see any pooping going on, and even then might not see it as mom is doing her job :)
