My 6 year old cat is pregnant!! I am very nervous as I have never experienced any of this before and it's unplanned as we were told by her past owners that she had been spayed. We have no idea how pregnant she is or when the kittens could arrive. And our vet was useless! He's very inexperienced and openly admitted that he'd never seen a pregnant cat then tried to guilt me about not getting her spayed even though we though she was already. Sigh. At least he was able to confirm using ultrasound that there were kittens. He said he was unsure of when they would be born and how many. Could anyone make an estimated guess from some pictures when she's due and roughly how many Just so I can prepare a bit better? She's eating a lot, and sleeping mostly all day and her nipples have gone pink and gotten bigger. thanks so much for any help you could give me as I am a newbie at this!! Also any advice on how to make her difficult time more pleasurable could be very welcome!! Xx

Can you feel the kittens? when did you noticed her nipples are pink? You can feel them two to three weeks before birth, They usually turn pink two weeks into pregnancy. a day or two before delivery, they drop, she will seem less smaller and you won't feel the kittens as clearly

Start making few nesting boxes, (cardboard boxes works great, as long it larger then her and can fit the kittens too) and place them varies places in the house so she can choose, anywhere is fine as long it calm and peaceful and won't have ton of foot traffic and the most important is that she feels safe in thst area. Get some milk replacer, it good to be prepared in case she don't produce milk or enough, our experts recommend KMR by PetAg, if you can't find milk replacer, you can use goat milk, raw goat milk is better. Get few needleless syringes or small droppers too

My guess is she 7 or 8 weeks, we can't tell you how many she going to have

I noticed her nipples were pink a few days ago but she has quite a fluffy tummy so it's possible I just hdnt noticed before. I can feel a few lumps in her tummy if I gently feel it but thehre fairly small and you can see or feel them moving. She's getting bigger not smaller so does this probably means she's not in the last few days? And she has chosen a nice spot in my wardrobe as there is a nice warm pipe running under it! So I put down a pillow and some towels and she spends most of her time in there! Also there is a small cupboard that she likes to go in so I put a box in there with a blanket and she also likes it in there. Thank you for your advice. Very helpful!!

Please post photos of the kittens when they are born, also feel free to post a photo of your cat here http://www.thecatsite.com/t/268663/black-cats-only

If you want you can weigh them at birth and everyday to see if they growing at a good rate, any scale that can weigh in grams will work. If you go to our article section on the top of the page then cat health, you will find articles on cat pregancy and stuff
