Tony doesn't have an appetite and is not himself. Last time he had a blood infection. He's hiding under the couch now --- will call the vet and take him in tomorrow. He is 14 and I worry about him!

Already left a voice mail at the vet and will call them again when they open tomorrow morning. Tony seems a bit better, but still not himself. He is cuddled on Paul's lap; he did eat a bit and drink water.

Glad to hear he ate & drank a little. Hope it's nothing serious, & is feeling better soon!

Last year Angel wasn't eating much , I could get him to eat some if I held his dish for him though. (spoiled much? LOL)

After a week or two, I took him in, ran test, & they didn't find anything. I was concerned, because we hear so much about them getting fatty liver on here, if they don't eat. The vet said they would have to be eating less than half of their food for about 3-5 days, for that to start. I had bought some turkey baby food to give him, & or mix in w/ his food, just to get him interested in eating.

Funny, when we got home, he was ready to eat, as if to say, "okay, okay, I'll eat, just don't take me to the vets." LOL

Maybe he just didn't feel good then.
They tested his blood for pancreatic issues, but didn't find anything.

He did that just a little a couple of months ago as well, but only for a couple days, & was fine again, so didn't need to take him in.

I stopped opening the windows because of how bad the pollen is now, & thought maybe that's why he didn't feel good.

He is due for his biannual & shots next month, so will mention it then.

Keep us posted!

Tony saw the vet this a.m. His temp was a bit low, heart and lungs sounded good. Took blood and should get results tomorrow. Started him on Clavamax and I'll continue the meds. Flea problem with all 3. Brought him Revolution and a flea pill for Angel and Tippy, but they don't want to do anything on Tony until the bloodwork comes in. He seems a bit better now, he's drinking water and not hiding under the couch. He had one dose of Clavamax and I'll continue tonight. Just hoping for good results. Thank all of you for your good wishes.

Glad he seems to be doing better and I hope that the Clavamox helps him.  Keep us posted on his progress and if his blood work shows anything.

Tues - a.m. Gave Tony his antibiotic this morning but he still is hiding under the couch and not eating. Had a bit of water after the meds. I just have a bad feeling and premonition about this. Hope I'm wrong. Waiting to hear results of blood work. He had that infection about 9 mos ago, but after the first day of Clavamox he started eating. Didn't happen yet. Hope my bad feeling is wrong. Will keep you posted. We're not leaving the house today.

Tony update: Dr. Newman called and the news is not good. He is severely anemic; his body is either not making or his body is killing red blood vessels. Doing some more lab work, but in the meantime we just picked up prednizone, will give it to him 3 times a day for 3 weeks. Sometimes they do blood transfusions when the blood count gets even lower (his was 12 - transfusions are done at 10) I honestly don't want to put him thru that procedure. Will see if his appetite picks up and then they will do blood work. I'm mentally prepared for the worst, but I'm really a basket case now as Tony is so very special to us. He is so sweet and gentle.

I'm so sorry for the news.  Hopefully there will be improvement.  Does the vet have any ideas for the underlying cause?  There can be many causes for severe anemia.

Stephen Q - thank you for the link you sent. It was very informative and reinforced much of what our vet told us. Of course the possibility of cancer is there and frightening, but we'll just take one day at a time and continue with the medication. Will keep everyone posted.

Lana, I hope your premonition is wrong too. I will say a prayer for Tony. I hope he gets better soon.

I'm keeping Tony in my thoughts, Lana. Meanwhile, if he's not eating on his own, try some baby food (beef, chicken), warmed with some broth. If he won't eat on his own, try spoon-feeding him. He needs to have something in him. Baby food is better than nothing.

I remember crawling underneath my desk to spoon-feed Da Pumpkin Boy when he was sick. And we just spoon-fed Booboo the other week, too, when he was sick. Whatever it takes.

Many
for you and Paul. And for Tony, too.

Thank you for your thoughts Carol. I think tomorrow may be the day we have to say goodbye to Tony. He's in bad shape, been sitting in the sink all day and last night. When I picked him up and put him on the floor before he could hardly stand on his legs. Just talked to the vet, he asked if we wanted to bring him in tonight, but we might as well wait until morning. Barring any miracles, I think that will be it Just can't see him go on like this when there is so little hope.

I am so sorry to hear this Lana, I am hoping for that miracle.  We all know that our kitties will tell us when it's time to go.  No one lets our kitties suffer, I feel so bad for you and the decision you have to make. Thinking of you.
