Hi all- new here.
So my newly adopted kitten was taken to the vet after seeming lethargic, disoriented, some other things...on top of distention. The vet automatically said FIP. He had a blood sample sent to the lab. A couple of days ago while waiting for the results still, we brought him in again in hopes they could give him something to help him eat. The vet this time did a stomach tap and showed us the yellow sticky liquid confirming, and on top of that, the blood results came in just as we were checking out that confirmed FIP positive..containing the highest levels that they test for.
They sent us home with steroids and Clavamox. While I know that the steroids are supposed to make him seem like he's lively, and induce a hope that he may live... And I may or may not be grasping at straws- but his stomach feels and looks relatively smaller and less bloated than when we took him in a couple of days ago. Is it at all possible for the wet form of FIP to go away with the help of the antibiotics?
We've been feeding him meat that we've cooked ourselves, since he wont eat any sort of cat food anymore. Or some times if we haven't cooked anything, we'll give him a syringe with his liquid kitten food.
Any insight or opinions would be very beneficial. This is the first time we've gone through this with our cats and it's a pretty scary and overwhelming experience.
