I just adopted a 2 year old possibly purered or mixed ragdoll from animal control from a hoarding situation. I have read the breed is prone to urinary disease. I prefer dry food. What to begin with? No idea what he was getting before. My prior cat was a senior diabetic.

If there an tractor supply company near you, try 4health

No matter which dry food you go with, there still a chance he will get uti, Wet food would be better if you want to prevent uti

I don't know if Ragdolls are more prone to urinary issues than other breeds but in general many cats get urinary issues bcause they aren't getting enough water to keep the urinary sytem healhty and working at optimal levels, mainly beause they are fed only dry food. Catinfo.org is a good place to read up on urinary issues and diet.

Could you feed some canned food? Even something like Fancy Faest is better than nothing at all. If not, I suggest a grain-free dry food such as Nature's Variety Instinct. Most cats won't drink enough water from a bowl so just do your best to encourage water drinking by the use of water fountains and such. Don't add water to the dry food and let it sit all day because that will cause bacteria to grow and that may cause an upset tummy.
