Today I've been searching online for various cat books. I need books with plenty of guidance on all things about cats, cat care, etc.I need books that also have a variety of decent photographs throughout. What books have you got? What have you found to be the best quality ? As much as I like coffee table books I really want the right books.

My interest is in long haired cats like the Persians.I dont know of any book specifically on Chinchilla's but as long as there's something on the breed, thats a good start.

I did find some books on cats/care care by these authors:

1)Vicky Halls,

2)Paddy Cutts.

If you have books by those authors could give me some idea of what their books are like?

These books are of interest to me:

1)The complete cat, By Vicky Halls.

2)The complete cat book,By Paddy Cutts.

These books have more pages than most other books.Thats got to be a good thing to some degree.

Then there are books like these:

1)RSPCA Complete cat care manual by A T B Edney,

2)The ultimate encyclopedia of cats.By Alan Edwards.

Update:

Thank you to those who have replied so far.I have 5 books to consider at the moment.

Would it be a good idea to have a specific section on this forum to cater for books? Just a thought.

Awesome, I'm a bookworm!

I have the Paddy Cutts complete cat book!

The Secret Language of Cats by Heather Dunphy is an awesome book about the body language of cats and some tips for health stuff and stuff.

The royal canin cat encyclopedia has a few volumes and has a full description of a fair amount of breeds.

My best friend has a book, I'll get the name from her. I borrowed it once and found it very helpful.

If you're interested in fiction cat books I can also give you a list of those too ;)

BTW, welcome to TCS

I've had this one forever: The Encyclopedia of the CAT  (link to Amazon)

It has basically everything about cats, from history and folklore to cat care and breeds. Very decent photographs and very informative. One of the best, really!

I have a few more cat books and I'll see if I can find a link to those also..

I have found a lot of wrong information in cat books!  But this is the absolute bomb if you are after wisdom in understanding and training and caring for your cat.  Unfortunately, not a hard copy book, but an e-book.  Cost effective though, and as said, the absolute best coverage of every and any 'problem' a cat owner comes across with an amazing insight into how cats operate (the author has like 20 + years of animal rescue):

Anything by Doris Bryant. I have a copy of one of her cat books and its been a great source of information. The section on nutrition, though, is out-dated. Home cooking for cats is just a bad idea. The rest is pure gold.

I just found this book and bought it for a start.

Found the Doris Bryant book in a second-hand shop in town here, and the other...In the city, I think. Doris Bryant is likely out of print, as the book I have was published in 1963. She was quite ahead of her time.

I found this one on amazon. I better aim for more updated books.
